The Trump Presidency 14

Not showing up for the inauguration is a petty issue. What you really have to worry about is him refusing to cooperate with his successor during the period between the election and the inauguration.
I've no doubt at all about that, unless, of course, he "serves" until January 2025 when Ivanka gets sworn in.

Trump Tweets

Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan, who has done a wonderful job, has decided not to go forward with his confirmation process so that he can devote more time to his family....
!

After the London trip, I began to wonder if the president ever travelled overseas with his family before. Maybe President Trump took the job to spend more time with his family.

ETA
Obviously I’m joking. President Trump doesn’t want to spend time with his family.

Yeah she did. And then immediately started groveling and apologizing for it. Same thing with the coal comment.

That's the difference.

With Democrats it's:

Democrats "You're stupid."
Response: "What did you say?!"
Democrats: "No wait... I misspoke. What I mean to say was...."

With Trump it's:

Trump: "You're an idiot."
Response: "What did you say?!"
Trump: "I said you're a goddamn idiot. What did I effing stutter? You're an idiot and probably a rapist too."
Now I'm not defending Trump speak, but it, or part of it or something it represents, is connecting with people on some level.

A sure of himself ******* is connecting with people in a way that "Say one thing, then immediately walk it back when a person sitting in a diner in Ohio says they don't like it" nice person is.

It's never that hard hitting. It's more like "Well, some people I've talked to said you were an idiot. Of course, some of those also said you were rapist. Who knows what to believe ... yada, yada, yada"

And if there was any doubt that Trump is going to run on a ticket of pure bigotry, the Orlando rally removed it.

The leans right of center Orlando Sentinel has not endorsed Trump for re-election. The reasons:
“Because there’s no point pretending we would ever recommend that readers vote for Trump.

“After 2½ years we’ve seen enough.

“Enough of the chaos, the division, the schoolyard insults, the self-aggrandizement, the corruption, and especially the lies.

“So many lies — from white lies to whoppers — told out of ignorance, laziness, recklessness, expediency or opportunity.”

It might back Trump, the editorial said, “if, say, he found the proverbial cure for cancer or — about as likely — changed the essence of who he is (he won’t).”

We can be sure of one thing: Trump will attack the Orlando Sentinel.

I got a chuckle out of pro-Trump commenter David Gabbai:

Anyone with half a brain in their head after reading this non-endorsement will vote for him just out of spite over your obvious bias.

Mr. Gabbai is quite correct: someone would have to have half a brain to vote for Trump. Those with more than half a brain would not.

Take a drink every time Trump changes topic half way through a sentence.

I will be reporting your post.

I laughed (to keep from crying) when Donnie Boy made this comment to George Stephanopoulos during his "30 Hours" interview.
"When you will see my financial statement, at some point I assume it’s going to be released, you’ll be very impressed by the job I’ve done. Much, much bigger, much, much better than anybody...It’s a fantastic financial statement.". Link

As has been stated, Trump's giving stupid a bad name. ;)

From that "failing, fake news, radical left" Forbes business magazine:
According to new estimates from Forbes, Trump dropped more than 200 spots from 544th richest in 2017 to 766th in 2018 on the magazine’s annual Billionaires List as a result. The fall comes a year after the Trump’s net worth was reportedly $3.5 billion — about $1 billion less than his fortune reported on the Forbes 2016 Billionaires List.

During his campaign, Trump said he had a net worth of $10 billion — but that claim was quickly debunked with reports reflecting his net worth was closer to around $3 billion or $4 billion. Link

We now have a president who makes claims that require "debunking."

Sad!

Trump really is a used car salesman. Unfortunately the used car in this case is the United States of America. :boxedin:

Trump to Stephanopoulos;

“Mueller comes out—there’s no collusion. And essentially a ruling that no obstruction. And they keep going with it. You know what? People are angry about it.”

“(Mueller) didn't find anything having to do with obstruction because they made a ruling based on his findings and they said no obstruction.”

“Because it’s untrue—I like the truth. You know, I'm actually a very honest guy. If I thought they were correct, I wouldn’t be complaining at all."
