As it stands now, I'll get to Vegas about Thursday noon and stay over Monday, 30 January. My plans for that day are:

Morning--Drive to Hoover Dam, do the tour thing on my own schedule (the other time I was there was with Grey Line tours, and you went by their schedule)

Afternoon--Drive/Walk through RedRocks Park--I drove through it in a hurry last year in the evening, so didn't see much and never got out of the car. Hope to see more this time.

Evening--Open to suggestions.

Anyone else staying over and want to join me, let me know between now and 29 Jan 06. I'll probably get a Minivan again for elbow room and to help transport folks.

Hey Hutch!

I'm staying over until Tuesday - could I get in on the trip? I've never been to Vegas or that part of the country before. I've never seen a desert either. :j1:

OK by me. I lived for 4 years in the Middle East--so I've seen desert!!

FWIW, the tour at the Hoover Dam (which is well worth it) is about $11.00. The Park is Free, but I'll have to collect some info on it to see where me can go from there.

Any thoughts about Monday night??

Hello, Hutch. I may be able to stay longer. I'd love to see the Hoover Dam. I've never been to Las Vegas, either. I drove through the State, but we only stopped in Reno.
 
I grew up in Texas; I've seen desert. But I've never walked around in a canyon before, so count me in.
 
Hmmm, the kitty, supercorgi, scrutinizer, candy, billc and Joshua and maybe rebecca...that'll fill my minivan I'm renting (kitty, are the kittens planning to come along?)

I may have to rent something bigger or we'll have to co-op another driver.

Don't let that stop you from signing in and up. The more the merrier.

ps Joshua, it's a dam, not a canyon (albeit the bottom of the dam is pretty darn canyon-like.

I can rent a van or car for the day, if needed. As long as that stupid Rebecca doesn't get in it. :p

Well, rebecca will be my navigator (she got me from Boston to the wilds of Massachusetts and back again, so Nevada should be a breeze), so you can ride with me and Scrut can rent and drive.

BTW Scrut, better check rates for 1 day rentals, especially when they are not on the weekend. I looked at renting a 15-pax van for Monday and :eek: :jaw-dropp

Rebecca will probably insist on sitting on my lap. So I may have to ride with you afterall.

Maybe some of the people who are driving to Vegas will also be going? We could all pile in with them too.

I leave on the 30th but not until 11:25 at night so I would like to join the caravan as well. I've been to Vegas four times and have never toured around outside of the city.
