The Day After TAM4 Plan

OK, right now these are the folks planning to go:

Hutch
Central Scrutinizer
Exarch
Rebecca
Supercorgi
Bill C
Joshua Korsoi
Patricio Elicer
Triangle Man

That's 9 and my van only holds 7, so Scrut, looks like I may have to take you up on that offer. I'll help with the rental costs (looks like a min-van PU on the afternoon of the 29th and return evening of the 30th will run about $85-$100 on Expedia) and maybe the rest can pitch in a buck or two.

The general plan (subject to change without notice) is:

Meet 0800 in Lobby near registration (by Monday everybody will know where that is)

Leave Stardust 0815
Arrive Hoover Dam 0915 (trying to beat the tour buses)
At Hoover Dam 0915-1130 (that's should be enough time to tour inside the dam, see the movie and museum area and walk out onto the dam)
Leave Hoover Dam 1130
Lunch (Boulder) 1200-1315

Now we have a decision. Kitten has laid on a trip out to the Red Rocks for Sunday with a bona-fide guide. If you go out there Sunday, then we can cancel the Red Rocks part and I am open to other suggestions (no, Scrut, a side trip to the Mustang Ranch is NOT an option). OTOH, if you decide to skip the Sunday trip and rely on me to see the Red Rocks, I'll be glad to do it. Post or e-mail me folks.

If we do go to Red Rocks, the rest of the plan is...

Leave Boulder 1315
Arrive Red Rocks 1430
At Red Rocks 1430-1700 (sunset at 5:04pm per Google)
Leave Red Rocks 1700
Arrive Stardust 1745

I'll also get anyone leaving late Monday night (i.e. Rebecca, Triangle Man) to the airport if at all possible.

If Red Rocks is off the schedule, I am open to suggestions for the afternoon.

If you think I'm probably over-doing it with the schedule thing, you're probably right; but I have always been a planner, but I've always tried not to be inflexible with any plan--amendments are always in order.

Now, anybody else joining us?

Looks like we will be going to Grand Canyon on the Monday, so we will be going via Hoover Dam first. But I suspect we will get there a bit too early for the likes of most of the party-goers from the night before! Also, we don't intend hiking up and down the thing - it's big, we know that, so we will take that as read.

Fit in with any plans? If so, please note: We will be going ON from Hoover Dam, not back to LV, at about lunch-time.

I can help with rental costs, up to 20 bucks.

I'm interested in helping. I have some of the details down with my school and work schedule. Hutch, I think I may be able to use my ticket. If Cross wants to attend, I will help him out, too.

I just rented a car. A mid-size Ford/Chrysler/GM something or other, should seat 5.

I'll pick it up Sat evening around 6:00, after the meeting and before the drinking. So we can use it Sun afternoon and all day Monday, and then I'll drive myself (and anyone else with a noon-ish flight) back to the airport on Tuesday.

So I'll need Hutch or someone to run me over to the airport Sat late afternoon/early evening.

Let me know if you need a spare driver. Although I'm from one of those funny countries where they drive on the other side of the road, I still have a valid US driver's licence. (Or license).

Will chip in for a shared car, of course.

Done. And thank you. So that gives a capacity for 12 folks. Any other riders/drivers?

I believe my European drivers license is valid in the US. I haven't actually checked that.

At leat in my country people drive on the correct side of the road.
And of course I can handle stick-shift.

I think I may join this expedition..along with my full-size car. We'll have to regroup the day off though..I'm the only JREF staff person who will be there on Monday and there may be some clean up, shipping, etc to do.

Besides, my posting this serves as a bump as well. :)

And how does such a meeting occur, if you are the only JREF staff person there?!

:D

Dang people, you are making me wish I took off another day!

$100 change fee and the cost of another night in the hotel. I'm a scholarship baby, it's not in the cards.

But I know what to plan for next time!

Ahh, an astute reader. Well, my plans are not the only ones that changed. :)

Bump and problems

Folks;

We may have a need for another car.

Right now I have these names on the list for Hoover Dam and Red Rocks/other?

1. Hutch (driver)
2. Supercorgi
3. The Central Scrutinizer (driver)
4. BillC
5. Joshua Korsoi
6. Exarch
7. Patricio Elicer
8. Kittynh
9. Kitten
10. Kitten2
11. Rebecca
12. Triangle Man
13. TJ Stough
14. Mrs. TJ Shough's wife
15. Jeff Wagg (driver)
16. Tkingdoll
17. Mr. Tkingdoll
18. Exarch
19. Candy

That's three drivers and I think Jeff Wagg is out, so that's a 7-passenger mini-van and a 5-passenger car for 18 people (even if Jeff Wagg comes with 6-passenger car, thats' 18 seats for 19 people.

I don't want to cut anybody out, so tell you what: Either I will rent a full-size car/minivan for Monday (p/u Sunday night) on my credit card if somebody will volunteer to drive it or that person can rent it and I'll reimburse them (or we can take up a collection).

Please PM me soonest--I may have FUBAR'ed this, but I'll bloody well fix it.

Hutch

Have we come up with an alternative to Red Rocks (assuming most folks are going Sunday)? Are there any other desert sites to see? Maybe a cactus garden/nature area?

Also, I assume my car will hold 6, assuming the third person in the front middle is on the smallish side. Sort of "Rebecca-sized". Only not as annoying! :p

It would be cool with me if you struck 18. exarch off the list, as long as you leave 6. exarch on ...

As for Monday, I thought we were going to Hoover Dam? With the Red Rocks tour on Sunday?

Space-wise, I don't take up too much room, and wouldn't mind squeezing into the back next to some similarly skinny kitten's or something.
