George Conway Tweets

It’s simple. The reason why Trump loves to talk about impeachment, and why he blathers on about it more than most Dems, including Pelosi and all his 2020 opponents combined, is that it concerns what matters to him most, more than his job, and more than the country—himself.

Politically, of course, he’d be better off if he’d just shut up about it, just as he would have been far better off if he’d never fired Comey, never tried to obstruct Mueller, and never tweeted the words “Witch Hunt.” But he’s a pathological narcissist. He can’t help it.

Pelosi gets all this. She’s playing him like a drum.

I do wonder if its even possible for George & Kelly-Anne's marriage to be strong enough to survive this. They must surely have an agreement that forbids bringing politics into their home.

I don't think that a prosecutor would touch that as either obstruction or bribery, especially not the former. Tit for tat deals are common in legislative negotiations and are not called bribery.

Not to stop an investigation. That is VERY VERY DIFFERENT.

...we'll forget that Trump uses Twitter as an official White House communication channel?

m'kay.

You say that now, but once he leaves office?

Here's a list of all the Executive Branch websites:

https://www.loc.gov/rr/news/fedgov.html

These are all official communications channels of the presidency. How many of them did it ever occur to you to read on a regular basis?

We simply can't afford to pay another $1-1.5 million on aluminum and stay in business, even if we solve all our other problems.
I thought I heard that Trump was ending the aluminum tariffs?
He is ending the Steel and Aluminum tariffs with Canada and Mexico. (He is probably concerned about the tariffs derailing his big free trade deal with Canada and Mexico, and really needs some sort of 'win'.)

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/tariff-steel-aluminum-deal-canada-trump-1.5140031

From what I understand, he will maintain the tariffs on Steel and Aluminium from China and Europe.

Well, with that said... Orange man IS bad.
The right likes to steal phrases coined or at least popularized by the left - "fake news" and TDS (a play on HDS or CDS.) So I salute the left using the same tactic. "Snowflakes," "safe spaces," all of that. "Orange man bad" is simple, with the one possible downside that it unfairly impugns other orange men.

Sure. How about we make that analogy better, though. Say there's multiple cops there, a majority of which are effectively holding the rest at gunpoint and trying to demand that the others do nothing.
IMO it's actually a minority holding the rest at gunpoint. Some politicians with solid majorities in their own jurisdiction were apparently cowed by the vicious savaging they would be likely to experience in a primary. Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, Paul Ryan are among them. John Bohner, another orange man, was probably one of the first, but right now he doesn't seem half bad. He saw this coming, for sure.

I have a state with a senator whose unreserved support of Trump could very easily spell defeat in 2020. And look at how hard Ted Cruz had to fight to keep his seat. He's not up for re-election in 2020, but quite a few senators and congresspeople are. Trump support IMO is going to be a factor in those cases, and not in a positive way for many of those legislators.

How many of them does it occur to Trump to post to on a regular basis?? You should be patronizing Trump with this information, not us.

I've said this before in these threads and no one ever chimes in to agree with me, but I think Kellyanne may be a wee bit subversive. She was the one who got that phrase "alternative facts" in popular usage. She also could have been the one who wrote that NYT op-ed last year. Probably not - probably that person is no longer around. But a few other things make me wonder.

If she could hurt Trump without hurting the GOP she might do it.

Much more likely to be the other way around. She has made truly ridiculous, transparently false defenses of her Dear Leader and has rebuked GOP officials who utter the slightest criticism of him. There's no evidence in her public behavior that she wouldn't do anything to protect her guy, including sinking the GOP.

Wow! CNN Ratings are WAY DOWN, record lows. People are getting tired of so many Fake Stories and Anti-Trump lies. Chris Cuomo was rewarded for lowest morning ratings with a prime time spot - which is failing badly and not helping the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon!

When is Twitter going to allow the very popular Conservative Voices that it has so viciously shut down, back into the OPEN? IT IS TIME!
For a while after the 2016 election I followed CNN closely. But I soon started to suspect that they were throwing every possible Trump-themed news story and opinion piece on the home page, probably to generate clicks from people hoping that the latest development would ruin Trump. I didn't stop watching/reading CNN coverage because I fundamentally disagreed with their reporting. Frankly I didn't want to keep getting my hopes up about the latest scandal ruining him.

Twitter will reinstate James Woods when Woods deletes his tweet that said,

James Woods said:
"If you try to kill the King, you better not miss. #HangThemAll."

You say that now, but once he leaves office?
You think we'll simply forget that he used twitter in this fashion, in order to wonder why we followed what he said?

These are all official communications channels of the presidency. How many of them did it ever occur to you to read on a regular basis?
Aside what Cabbage said, how many presidents in modern times were as volatile as Trump and then could get his mood swings published as quickly?

Your analysis is probably more likely than mine. But some of those defenses seem (to me) to be a bit too ridiculous and too transparent to be believed. According to Politifact, she doesn't just tell lies; she tells lies with absolutely no truth value.

ETA: A favorite of mine:
"Two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalized and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre. … It didn't get covered"

She's not stupid; she knows people would check, but it gives her great cred with Trump, who arguably is stupid.

Most recently:
"She responded the way she always does, saying, 'I only talk to the president, not staff.' She thinks that we're all staff,"
Um ... they are all staff. Why make such a ludicrous claim?

"My whole point was, the president spoke for three minutes and was very specific about why he was turning around and walking out very calmly. She didn't address any of that, she did what she often does, which is get off topic and she started talking about Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt and what they had done on infrastructure."
First of all, Kellyanne must be aware that her basic strategy is to get off-topic. Second, infrastructure was the topic, not Trump's mood swings.

I'm probably wrong, but I don't mind floating the theory.

The Trump base just want something to use as a reply when cornered, even if it makes no sense.
It has never been about finding reasons to support or reject Trump, only about justifying their unwavering support.

It's also an absurdly false equivalence to say that following Trump's tweets is comparable to tracking the websites of every executive branch agency.

I don't "follow" him; I get a few on here which Captain Swoop repeats verbatim, generally without commentary. The tweets are words straight from the horse's ass or sometimes carefully crafted concoctions from his handlers. It takes maybe 5 minutes a day to read them.

Question, if you do follow him do you get peeps coming out of your phone every time he does one?

Hmmm. This is the first one that comes to mind...

“As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be occupied by a downright moron.”
H.L. Mecken - Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920

Thanks for this. It made my morning!

...This is absurd.
Saying he wants him to be "fair," President Donald Trump on Friday described why he has given Attorney General William Barr sweeping powers to declassify intelligence as part of his review into how the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election began and the resulting surveillance on the Trump campaign.

And exceedingly dangerous, given Barr's history. That's bearing in mind that everything that Barr declassifies related to Russia is going right to the Russians, one way or another, and could easily get our assets there killed.

I am on Air Force one with the First Lady heading to Japan and looking forward to honoring, on behalf of the United States, His Majesty, the Emperor of Japan. I will also be discussing Trade and Military with my friend, Prime Minister @AbeShinzo.

I thought that heavy, oppressive feeling seemed less. The air just felt lighter and fresher. Either Trump has left or someone saged the country.
