But there cannot be administrations characterized by never having lied.

Chris B.

Which is a meaningless statement and a poor effort to try and equate dishonest with having never lied to falsely equate two things.

ETA: plus, you are trying to get out of addressing the position that her lies are for ego stroking. You are trying everything but have totally avoided whether her lies are political or ego stroking

You are obfuscating. I said Sanders lies were not political. You are saying that press secretaries have a political reason to spin facts.

First, she isnt spinning facts. She is lying.

Second, the argument wasn't that press secretaries have a political reason to spin fact. It was that Sanders lied to stroke egos. You are trying to create a strawman by making my position into something it is not.

I don't know where you want to go with this? Does Sanders lie? Obviously. But that doesn't mean she lies under oath. Did she lie to the press? Sure she did, probably often as most do. Was the lie she told only determined to be a lie because of her choice of one word used in a sentence? Sure it was. Could have she misspoken? Certainly. There's no strawman in the house. We're talking about something that was said and at least I am considering her reasoning for it. Truth is, only she can know her intent as I can't read minds and I'll bet you can't either. So we'll never know her true intent.

You mean you can't admit that Democrats lie?

Chris B.

I have no opinion on that. Ask a republican or democratic. It isn't the issue. The issue is that Sanders lies to protect an emotionally fragile and TV obsessed person. This wasn't lying to support a political agenda.

Chris, in the span of two pages you've gone from she isn't lying, to she was lying but so does everyone, to we'll never know.

I would ask why you feel the need to provide cover for bad people, but you'd probably give me three conflicting answers.

Does this person you describe belong to a political party?

Actually its mostly been a discussion of intent with an occasional sidetrack. There are more ways than one to look at her statement. Each has its own answer. Of course you're welcome to choose one and run with it, I was merely discussing each and questioning how one choice is better than the other.

Nope, I know as White House Press Secretary lying and spin is part of the job (while not under oath). I just pointed out that there may have been a failed attempt to set her up (Sanders) for a perjury charge. (Process crime)

Chris B.

If she has committed a crime, shouldn't she be held accountable? I'm certain if she has lied under oath there will be consequences. Seems like many were burned for lying under oath during this investigation. However, if she lied as part of her job, well she's no different than any other White House Press Secretary, ever.......

A dishonest administration? Can you point to an honest one we've had? I thought they were all dishonest on one point or another. Just keeping it real that there is no "holier than thou" in spite of what many falsely try to believe.

The "countless" argument was merely to point out a tactic. Kinda like what the definition of "is" is.......

Unfortunately, I can't find the link right now, but I just saw one with Anderson Cooper and a Deputy Press Secretary. Cooper had to say "That's not true" at least six times, when he could get a word in. I thought the DPS was the worst combination of KellyAnne Conway and Sarah Sanders. Unbelievable.

Oh, FFS.

Who was the last president who claimed to know more than anyone in the country? Or anyone on the planet?

“I know more about renewables than anyone on earth.”
“Nobody knows more about taxes than I do — maybe in the history of the world."
“Nobody in the history of this country has ever known so much about infrastructure as Donald Trump."
“Nobody knows more about trade than me.”

The count is over 9000 false or misleading statements.

I have no idea whether President Trump is a chronic liar, a habitual liar, a compulsive liar, or a sociopathic liar, but there can be no doubt that he lies more than an order of magnitude more than any president in modern history.

Equating the lying in this administration with the lying in any one of the past six administrations is disingenuousness in the extreme.

I wonder if the best solution to posts like his is to simply ignore him. The alt-right/trumpkin playbook is to never, ever go on the defensive. Never apologise, never concede anything, never admit someone has a good point. Just deny, lie, and play stupid. Pretend Obama's 18 lies over eight years are somehow comparable to Trump's habit of lying that many times in a single day. Stall the whole discussion, or better yet, try to derail it to be about Obama, AOC, or some other boogeyman of the alt-right. If someone on the left does something wrong (because everyone who disagrees with the alt-right and/or Trumpkins are "on the left"), pounce on them even though it makes you look ridiculously hypocritical. Then accuse "the left" of hypocrisy, just to make everything even more absurd.

They are effectively trolls. A new kind of trolls, but still trolls. Just let them yell into the void. You'll never convince him anyway, and he knows how he's coming across, he just doesn't care.

Once he realises he can't derail discussions anymore, he might get sulky and put a red cross in his avatar, but I for one won't even see that, as I have him on ignore.

Today I saw a clip (shown on a couple different news shows) where a Trump supporter on the street admitted that Trump is "a despicable human being", but supports him even more strongly now than a couple years ago. Because "He's done a lot of good for the country."

What good, we might ask? I think first and foremost for these people is... Judges. As long as the courts get stuffed with the 'right kind' of judges, pretty much any sin is permissible.

Mueller’s Final Report ‘Completely Vindicates’ President Trump

Teflon Trump might survive part 1 & 2 of the Mueller report, but unlike Obama, Democrats in Congress won't keep quiet if the Counterintelligence investigation shows a threat to the 2020 elections that Trump refuses to address.
Democrats should be the first this time to call election fraud, since Trump is going to do it no matter what (he already has).

Oh, just stop. This ISN'T her. There IS a Mueller Report on Trump. There IS a report on Trump's lies and his failed attempts to obstruct justice.
Stop with the crap.

ETA: If a report like this emerged on Clinton, I'd be saying she needs to resign or get impeached. But no matter how many investigations the GOP threw at her over 3 decades, nothing even close to what Trump has done was ever discovered. Get over it.

Of course, there was an investigation into Clinton. She testified for 11 hours.
