Yo Dog, can you tell me the meaningful difference between saying I will "absolutely" do something versus I "promise" to do something? I'm just curious what distinction it is that you seem to see.

You mean like the plain meaning of the word "promised"? You know, the word he did not use, despite the filthy leftists using it in their lying headline?

The last 2 years, under @RealDonaldTrump, have been 2 years of action – it’s been 2 years of results – & it’s been 2 years of promises made and promises kept! #MAGA
Can you explain which promises Mike Pence is referring to?

I think I can give you some examples to help clarify the difference:

"I'm absolutely supporting Bernie" means "I support Trump."

"I promise to support Bernie" means "I support Trump."

Hmm, now I'm confused, too.

Sure, despite all the folks claiming otherwise, the first word was used by trump while the difference is he never used the second.

Simplicito!

Jesus Christ, keeping track of the Trump administration at this point is like trying to solve the Ship of Theseus thought experiment in real time.

Well, those Secret Service chaps stopped the Chinese lady who was bringing that thumb drive in to Trump.
Can't have them doing things like that

That's a syntactical difference, not a meaningful/semantic difference. I recommend you invest in a thesaurus.

looks at thesaurus.... promised.... I don't see the word "absolutely." Hmmm.

I recommend you invest in a better one.

This is extremely easy.

Did he say he was going to release his tax returns multiple times? Yes.

Has he? No.

How the **** has this taken up multiple pages?
You need to ask yourselves that, you are the ones who keep indulging him.
edit: for fairness' sake, I see you seem to have posted to him only once, but the point still stands :p .

I guess that was not a school of logic, huh? Pointing out that the media was deliberately mischaracterizing something would get a fella expelled?

Wow.

Trump promised to release his tax returns.
No he didn't, and he never used the word promise, that is fake news.
Quibbling you are expelled!

Examples of Trump 'Promises' that don't use the word 'promise' explicitley.

Make no cuts to Medicare

The Promise: “I’m not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid.”

Update: Democrats say latest Trump budget cuts Medicare, but it’s not that simple

Build a wall, and make Mexico pay for it

The Promise: "I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great great wall on our southern border and I’ll have Mexico pay for that wall."

Update: Donald Trump stalls on promise to build a wall, have Mexico pay for it

Cancel all funding of sanctuary cities

The Promise: "We will end the sanctuary cities that have resulted in so many needless deaths. Cities that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities will not receive taxpayer dollars, and we will work with Congress to pass legislation to protect those jurisdictions that do assist federal authorities.”

Update: Despite efforts, Donald Trump fails to cut funding from sanctuary cities

The thesaurus was intended as merely a beginning in your new understanding that different words can have the same meanings. Eventually you will master (hopefully, anyway) the language to the point that you realize different phrases can have the same meaning, too! Isn't that exciting!!?!

Good Luck!!!

Trump has gone from saying he would release his taxes to we will never see his taxes.
How can anyone support a man who’s word means nothing whether he uses the word promise or not?

It's beautiful. Lie all the time about everything so all your lies contradict each other so your followers can always point at something you said and go "See! See! Are you claiming he didn't say that?"

It's like the thought experiment about the Library of Babel, a hypothetical (or not since... versions of it exist for certain version of 'exist') procedurally generated book that has every possible written work already in it. It's like Trump's done that but with lies.
