“The Trump Administration has succeeded in dramatically raising the costs to Iran for its sinister behavior, at no cost to the U.S. or our allies. That’s the definition of a foreign-policy achievement.” Bret Stephens, @nytimes
We are getting stronger all over the world, watch!

Limbaugh Logic: Two dubious premises followed by a non sequitur.

I think the answer lies somewhere between Orwell and Mencken.

“We’ve always been at war with Eastasia.”

“No one in this world, so far as I know ... has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people”

Trump Steaks would disagree with that.

Can you believe that the Radical Left Democrats want to do our new and very important Census Report without the all important Citizenship Question. Report would be meaningless and a waste of the $Billions (ridiculous) that it costs to put together!

The cost of ObamaCare is far too high for our great citizens. The deductibles, in many cases way over $7000, make it almost worthless or unusable. Good things are going to happen! @SenRickScott @senatemajldr @SenJohnBarrasso @SenBillCassidy

What are the objections to that question, anyway?

"But the new question’s inclusion has been challenged in court on the grounds that it could cause many immigrants to skip the 2020 census out of fear their information could be used against them, even though it is illegal to share a person’s census responses with law enforcement or immigration agencies.
...
If immigrants shun the census, it could reduce the number of congressional seats and the amount of federal funding in states with large numbers of foreign-born residents..."

Long complicated answer made short, a LOT of things get decided on the census, especially how a lot of government money gets allocated.

Long story short the Trump administration wants the ability to not spend money on non-citizens. Their argument is basically "Without that question on the Census we won't be able to tell if we're spending money on non-citizens."

Here's a decent overview from NPR: https://www.npr.org/2019/02/15/6926...-if-2020-census-includes-citizenship-question

I see. Thanks.

Democrats should stop fighting Sen. David Perdue’s disaster relief bill. They are blocking funding and relief for our great farmers and rural America!

Details: The Democrats say it doesn't include enough aid for Puerto Rico, while Trump is saying that they're already getting too much.

Negotiations around disaster aid hit a snag last week, after Democrats told Republicans that they would not back a package Perdue introduced unless it included more money for Puerto Rico, which was devastated by two hurricanes in 2017. Trump, during a closed door meeting with Republicans last week, reportedly said that Puerto Rico was getting too much storm funding.

The Governor of Puerto Rico has asked the Senate to pass the bill that the House approved back in January.

I'm not a big fan of foreign aid, but what little I've read it was supposed to go for more job opportunities and help in reining in the gangs. I can support that. Remittances to families may help that immediate family but does nothing to change the built-in societal issues that lead to seek safety elsewhere.
I'm skeptical how much of that money actually goes to the programs it supposedly supports, but even setting that aside, remittances might not change society from the top down, but they have the potential to do good from the bottom up. That family's cash gets spent somewhere, buying groceries, building materials, etc. thus stimulating the economy. Families may be able to afford to leave their kids in school longer, or afford a better school. Meanwhile I see a lot of potential for foreign aid given to the government to be siphoned off wherever there are corrupt officials.

He probably thinks it's a great way to punish cities.

Most US aide to Latin America has gone to propping up right wing dictators who were not elected and who give the corporate investors what they want.

We recently got a survey from the Census department that asked all sorts of invasive questions, including citizenship, race, and ancestry; and wanted names and addresses. And had a threat of criminal charges if not completed soonest. Apparently it's not a new thing, but it certainly appears open to abuse.

I went ahead and answered it, we're not from a Mexican Country.

There may be a LOT more John Smiths, living at 123 Main Street, Smallville, USA.

It was sent to the address. An address which didn't exist prior to last November. I suppose I COULD have said we were Senor y Senora Roberto Perez, but what would that have done for me?
