I wish these candidates had to participate in a written debate on a moderated online thread. Much easier to evade cross examination live on stage.

Can you imagine Trump doing that? It would be incoherent.

I think there could be a moment of self-reflection for some Trump supporters when they realize how off base or incomprehensible his responses are for the questions asked.

It's fascinating to read the transcripts from his rallies. They seriously are absurdly nonsensical.

They don't care. If America can't work for them, they'd just assume burn it down.

I wish Obama could line up against Trump cause I KNOW he would kick Trump's ass and that would be doubly humiliating for the bright orange turd. Unfortunately I don't see any Democrat male or female taking the stage the way Obama or Bill Clinton did. But I'm sure that some of these candidates could beat Trump. Now will they?

I again assert that Al Franken would be the best Dem candidate. With his sharp wit and being quick on his feet, he would turn Dump's demeanor against him more effectively than anyone I can imagine.

He seems to have completely disappeared. Why did he bail so quickly and easily and why has he failed to make a comeback? I sure wish he was back on the scene.

Me too. He checked all the boxes for me.

Beto opposes the concentration of wealth and power:

“This extraordinary, unprecedented concentration of wealth and power and privilege must be broken apart,” the former Texas congressman said to cheers, “and opportunity must be shared with all.”

No mention of whether he was crossing his fingers as he said it. Beto himself is a definite 1%er, with a personal wealth estimated at $9 million on financial disclosure forms he filed as a congressman.

Of course, he's a piker compared to his father-in-law, whose net worth has been estimated in the billions. Forbes is doubtful about that claim, but they make it clear that the old man is rolling in the dough:

Sanders grew up in El Paso; in 1966 he founded International Development Corp, which in 1968 he moved to Chicago and renamed LaSalle Partners. It later became real estate brokerage giant Jones Lang LaSalle. In the late 1980s Sanders reportedly sold his stake for $65 million.

In 1991 he founded Security Capital Group in Sante Fe. It became a REIT incubator of sorts and went public in 1997, growing to $26 billion in assets by 2000. In 2001 Security Capital made $265 million selling shares of operating company CarrAmerica; sold affiliate Homestead Village to Blackstone for $740 million; and sold at least $380 million worth of stock in Archstone Communities. Security Capital also gave rise to industrial real estate giant Prologis. In 2002 Sanders sold SCG to G.E. Capital for $4 billion in cash plus assumption of about $1.4 billion in debt. According to SEC documents, Sanders made about $250 million cash in the deal.

As an encore, Sanders created a new industrial REIT, Verde Realty, which invested in properties on either side of the border, catering to the maquiladoras. In 2012 Brookfield Asset Management and Ross Perot Jr.’s Hillwood bought 81% of Verde for $886 million, including assumed debt. According to SEC documents, Sanders owned 6.4% of Verde equity, good for about $22 million.

Beto's a redistributionist? Pull my other leg.

Here's another pic of creepy Joe going in for a hair sniff and kiss on actress Eva Longoria at the very event he's accused of doing the same thing to the Lt. Governor candidate.

Al Franken got railroaded out of the Senate for less. But somehow this guy is still in the running. What's up with this guy? More like, what's up with progressives in general?

Looks like they're finally starting to take notice and say something.

Pity it took one woman to actually speak up - this should have been blindingly obvious, although the sheer weight of deniers in this thread alone shows what might be going on. Biden's own denial is weak as hell when viewed against hiss record on the abuse of females, which extends back decades.

I can hear Trump's laughter from here. The one bloke with the same recognition factor as him is not going to be in the race. I'm picking Creepy Joe will announce his non-participation this week.

Yeah, what is up with progressives and their tolerance of misconduct from their colleagues.

Thanks for the link. The more I read about this, the more I think it's crap. Joe Biden was there to support Ms. Flores's run for AG. So he kissed her on top of her head in public in front of others? I don't see this as any more than comraderie. It's not like he wandered into her dressing room while she was changing or grabbed her by the pussy. Ms. Flores has every right to feel uncomfortable, but the time to send that message to Joe was 5 years ago. I know people that are huggers and other people that are uncomfortable with that. It doesn't make the hugger some kind of bad guy.

This is even more pathetic then the attacks on Al Franken.

Who are the men he endorsed by kissing them on the head?

Of course it does, at least if they act on that hugginess. They know perfectly well that it's not welcome; not doing something to somebody that they don't want done to them is pretty basic decency.

There is no question that is based on cultural sex roles and that is probably a mistake.

But I'm not going to condemn the guy because of it. It's one thing to say that Joe shouldn't do that and another to say he committed a disqualifying offense.

Which makes Biden either creepy in going ahead anyway, or oblivious that he had no idea how it was coming across. Neither is a particularly good look for him.

Personally I suspect it's a generational thing. He's 76. He may be genuinely clueless about touching people. But he's certainly had enough time to learn not to, especially in a field like politics. Surely someone around him has told him to knock it off but he just won't learn. Another example of why we need younger candidates more in touch with the times.
