More on Joe Biden's inappropriate behavior towards women:

He does seem to have a thing about kissing females on the hair; that's what he was trying to do with that little red-haired girl.

Good god - someone showing some honesty about Creepy Joe. You won't be popular.

I was reminded of Joe's behaviour this morning, when I read how a boxer has been suspended for kissing a woman who didn't want to be kissed.

As I've pointed out - Biden's behaviour would be held as criminal in any other case. I do hope they select him; the attack ads would be worth the price of Trump winning again.

I suppose neither of you saw Biden's adult response? Hint: He didn't say "Aww, that was just locker room talk" and call her a liar or traitor."

Or "I thought I grabbed her by the pussy." I guess i should have paid her six figures.

He denied it, which is effectively the same thing as calling her a liar.

Meanwhile, the identity politics continues. Mayor Pete may be gay, but is he gay enough to overcome being a white male?

From what I’ve seen, Buttigieg doesn’t seem terribly sold on the idea of gayness as a cultural framework, formative identity, or anything more than a category of sexual and romantic behavior. When he came out in a 2015 essay four years into his tenure as mayor, it was with some reluctance. “I’m not used to viewing this as anyone else’s business,” he wrote. “Being gay has had no bearing on my job performance in business, in the military, or in my current role as mayor.” According to the essay, Buttigieg only decided to reveal his sexual orientation to the world because he wanted to start dating. “Like most people, I would like to get married one day and eventually raise a family. … I came out because I had to,” he wrote. He hoped his coming out would help destigmatize homosexuality in Indiana but expressed excitement for an inevitable future in which children will be “puzzled that someone like me revealing he is gay was ever considered to be newsworthy.”

These are the remarks of someone whose affiliation with the gay community only goes so far as his own gay relationships, who can seemingly only conceive of homosexuality as a value-neutral or negative—certainly not positive—aside in a person’s biography. (It’s also possible that Buttigieg, as a politician, believes this is the safest way to characterize his homosexuality.)

Nope, I didn't see any adult response, so if you can link me would be grand.

All I saw was a denial: https://www.centralwesterndaily.com.au/story/5982941/joe-biden-denies-inappropriate-kiss/?cs=5461

He denied it, which is effectively the same thing as calling her a liar.

From Biden's spokesperson. TA - you've gotta have better news sources than the Central Australian Daily Wipe. The headline is misleading and they don't quote the entire statement which, as I said, is a grown up response.

"Vice President Biden was pleased to support Lucy Flores's candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Nevada in 2014 and to speak on her behalf at a well-attended public event. Neither then, nor in the years since, did he or the staff with him at the time have an inkling that Ms. Flores had been at any time uncomfortable, nor do they recall what she describes.

"But Vice President Biden believes that Ms. Flores has every right to share her own recollection and reflections, and that it is a change for better in our society that she has the opportunity to do so. He respects Ms. Flores as a strong and independent voice in our politics and wishes her only the best."

"doesn't recall" does not equal "denies".

You are confusing two things - the types of smears that will obviously be used against Biden, which you are promoting, and actual crimes which the smears are meant to represent.

Biden is not guilty of any actual crimes as far as any of us are aware, just as, as far as I am aware, Donald Trump has never actually "dated" his daughter.

Biden did not do anything at all like the kiss that that boxer gave the reporter.

A grown-up response would have been, "I'm sorry I made her feel uncomfortable," not "I don't remember her showing any discomfort, but gee, it sure is great that she can express her feelings like that."

I just grabbed the first link I saw - and as always, regardless of the source, it appears to have been 100% correct. He denies it.

"doesn't recall" does not equal "denies".

Yeah it does, except more cowardly than coming out and saying "That did not happen".

Given Biden's atrocious record of assaulting women & girls, I know who I believe here.

Except they are actual crimes.

I've given you several examples of people being arrested, charged and found guilty of crimes less than Biden committed.

Did you not see the one I linked where the guy got arrested for kissing a girl's hand? Unlike Joe, he didn't grab her breast area while doing it, so Biden's crimes are much worse than that guy's.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Considering the boxer didn't grab the reporter's tits when he kissed her, I agree there's no equivalence, because Biden's are much worse.

Oh, you mean how he kissed her on the lips?

Ok

Let's stop all this arguing by making a small social experiment.

You go down to the nearest mall today, find a little girl and do this to her:

When you get up off the floor from the dad having punched you in the face a few times, see if there are any cops coming to arrest you and let me know how you get on.

Meanwhile, someone's clearly reading the script: here's HuffPo's seven reasons Biden shouldn't run.

Been awhile since I updated the list, and there is a new sitting office-holder announced: Mayor Wayne Messam of Miramar, Florida. Wasn't sure I'd put him on the list with Buttegieg until I Googled Miramar; it's about 40% larger than South Bend.

In Or At Least Exploring (By Current or Highest Office Held):

Governors:
Jay Inslee
John Hickenlooper

Senators:
Corey Booker
Kirsten Gillibrand
Mike Gravel
Kamala Harris
Amy Klobuchar
Bernie Sanders
Elizabeth Warren

US Representatives:
John Delaney
Tulsi Gabbard
Beto O'Rourke

Cabinet Members:
Julian Castro

Mayors:
Pete Buttegieg
Wayne Messam

Unannounced But Considered Likely:

Vice Presidents:
Joe Biden

Senators:
Michael Bennet

US Representatives:
Eric Swallwell

Mayors:
Bill De Blasio

My guess is half this group will have stepped off the stage by primary time. I can't see how there will be enough resources to go around. I'm betting my governor Inslee will have backed away.

I would very much prefer the D-nominee for 2020 not to be a woman.

For the sake of argument, I will assume that Democrats will take the WH in 2020, because it will be an anti-Trump vote, not one for anyone.

A woman following Trump as President would be bad: it will be next to impossible for her not to look like a feminist stereotype to some, simply in contrast to the current misogynist-in-chief. Just dragging the country back to the middle of the road will make her look like a SJW.
And then there will be the backlash, which will be a combination of "women aren't cut out for the job" and "now that we had a female President, there is no more gender discrimination".

I'm not saying that a moderate male Democratic President wouldn't face similar problems, but many conflicts might feel less dramatic if a t least some degree of "old-boys-club" atmosphere is maintained. I'm sure that many politicians on both sides of the aisle are yearning for more bipartisanship, but for their constituents, compromising with a Woman might make them look weaker and would therefore require them to negotiate harder.

What I would like to see is a Male P / Female VP ticket with the understanding (or insinuation) that, circumstances permitting, they would seek to swap roles after four years.

I have no problem with a woman President, the problem is having a woman candidate. I have a theory that the higher pitch of a woman's voice makes it difficult for a woman to have commanding speaking presence without sounding shrill. But maybe that's us, maybe we're not use to it. But it's kind of hard to have one without the other. I voted for Hillary and would do it again. But she never seemed to have that "x factor". That intangible presence.

Trump speeches are childish, even moronic diatribes. If you read Trump's speeches, they are a morass of nonsensical ramblings that would embarrass me if they were mine. Yet Trump is kind of mesmerizing. It's kind of I can't actually believe he actually said that kind
of attention. Trump is the Jerry Springer President. He gets everyone to pay attention to him by being outrageous and insane. I wouldn't call that charisma, but it is that x factor.

If a woman can grab that stage and command that presence, then great. But the only woman I see in either party that can do that is AOC and she's too young and not running. But that doesn't mean that some of the female candidates won't develop that x-factor during the race.

I wish Obama could line up against Trump cause I KNOW he would kick Trump's ass and that would be doubly humiliating for the bright orange turd. Unfortunately I don't see any Democrat male or female taking the stage the way Obama or Bill Clinton did. But I'm sure that some of these candidates could beat Trump. Now will they?

I don't know if it's generally true, but it sure fits AOC...

It's very convenient that Trump waited for Obama's 2 terms to be up before running again...

I wish these candidates had to participate in a written debate on a moderated online thread. Much easier to evade cross examination live on stage.

If I was to choose strictly based on the ideas of a candidate, I would pick Warren hands down. Cory Booker second. If I was to choose based strictly on who I thought was most electable (as it stands this moment), I'd say Beto. But I know that perspective is likely to change after a few of those debates.
