The Trump Presidency 13: The (James) Baker's Dozen

Trump's McCain bashing is an expression of his despare that he knows he will never be like him. Trump will never be a statesmen. The political class will not gather to mourn Trump. Trump is like Gilgamesh being asked by Utnapishtem, "who will gather the gods for you". Like in Gilgamesh, the answer is no one.

President Trump doesn’t want to be like J. McCain. President Trump considers himself superior to John McCain in every way. Trump’s comment about liking war heroes who were not captured was not a calculated statement designed to achieve a desired effect - it was an honest expression of President Trump’s contempt for all who are not him.

When Trump sees the Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas laughing and enjoying each other’s compan, he doesnt feel envy and wishes he could be part of that crowd, he feels anger and wishes he could destroy their lives and take whatever they own.

He does not feel despair that he will never be seen as a true statesman. He feels pride that he is a pioneering statesman who opened the door to NK and is winning trade wars with China. The president sees himself as statesman who is setting records in his statesmanship.

But Trump wants to be considered superior to John McCain. Not the same thing as considering himself superiore.

To a normal person those are two different things. Im not yet convinced that President Trump can recognize the difference.

No, he wants to be considered superior to John McClane. The PDJT could certainly take out all those terrorists by himself, if he only had the chance.

Add in the fact that 'President's son-in-law' isn't a government position and he shouldn't be doing a single piece of work for the US or have a shred of government data beyond his own security detail...if your spouse's parent got elected president would you expect to be running anything? I wouldn't. I'd expect at most a Secret Service guy and maybe I could start a blog.

If your spouse's parent got elected POTUS, I don't think that I am the only one here who would be greatly disappointed if the only thing you did with having access to the most powerful person in the world was to start a blog. :D

1. We don’t know what Jared Kushner does in the White House
2. We don’t know why he’s qualified to do whatever he’s doing
3. We don’t know how he got a security clearance to do whatever he’s doing
4. We don’t know if he is even following the law when doing whatever he’s doing

Pretty much the same applies to Ivanka.

It's never a good sign when a country's army gets directly involved in the economy.

<snip>

Yeah. Eisenhower warned us about it in his farewell address to the nation.

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist."

Of course, he was one of the first great RINOs. He couldn't get on a GOP ticket for dogkiller these days with the ideology he had.

We sorta do, actually?

1. Kushner is the "senior advisor" Trump's shoved off a whole bunch of tasks onto.
2. His qualification is that Trump trusts him. Seemingly. As for relevant other experience, ha.
3. Trump overrode the rejections.
4. His violations of national security protocol seem to be notably worse than Hillary's. As they're still calling for her to be locked up, it would be only fitting for him to be locked up for much longer.

People don't get locked up for violating protocol. They get locked up for violating the law.

Did Trump violate the law regarding security clearances?

Is that really how you judge Trump in this matter? Just if he broke the letter of the law? No consideration of the larger issue that his intelligence agencies found him unworthy of the security clearance Trump gave him? That he might let his personal finances influence his international actions?

Do you wear the same set of blinders when it comes to Democratic politicians? Are you as casual when FBI agents exchange personal emails?

Did Trump violate the law regarding security clearances?

*raises an eyebrow*

Did I claim that Trump did there? I certainly don't see such, so this begs the question of what, exactly, you're trying to twist what I said into?

If you actually meant Kushner, on the other hand, perhaps you should pay attention to the context? To repeat, by the "standards" claimed by those who want Hillary in jail, Kushner deserves being locked up even more. There was no claim that those "standards" were legally defensible in the first place, as should have been quite obvious. Kushner's use of WhatsApp, of course, is in a gray area at best, though.
