JUST IN: Jared Kushner’s attorney told the House Oversight Committee that Kushner uses private apps and personal email to communicate about official White House matters with foreign leaders — a violation of a law governing White House records and official policy.
Lock Him Up! Lock Him Up!

Wait a second, he's part of the Trump clan? Never mind.

Seriously, remember that Kushner originally lost his security clearance, but was reinstated despite objections from security experts,

Jesus, that is a HUGE security risk. Anybody in the US Military caught doing that would be out so quickly is would make you head spin.

Add in the fact that 'President's son-in-law' isn't a government position and he shouldn't be doing a single piece of work for the US or have a shred of government data beyond his own security detail...if your spouse's parent got elected president would you expect to be running anything? I wouldn't. I'd expect at most a Secret Service guy and maybe I could start a blog.

It is my pleasure to announce that @StephenMoore, a very respected Economist, will be nominated to serve on the Fed Board. I have known Steve for a long time – and have no doubt he will be an outstanding choice!

Steven Moore... the guy who wrote the book "Bullish on Bush", where he praised the business polices of George W. Bush.

Less than 4 years later the economy was in the worst recession in over half a century.

Trump once feuded with Moore (president of The Club for Growth). Trump got Kellyanne to side with him over her husband. Men who condemned Trump now celebrate him. These successes demonstrate the president's incredible leadership skills. How else could you possibly explain what we're seeing? That it exposes the pure cravenness and moral bankruptcy of Conservative Inc?

More recently, he said "the people on the Federal Reserve Board should be thrown out for economic malpractice" and wrote a Wall Street Journal column stating that their policies were slowing the economy. Continuing the tradition of appointing people to organizations that they hate. At least he isn't being put in charge of it.

And Moore has been kissing Trump's ass on CNN talking about how brilliant his economic policies are.
Porobably the real reason he was appointed.

And I am so gobsmacked on Trump's actions on North Korea, and the White House explanation for them, that I just cannot find words except to say I am now convinced this moron will get us into a new war just because of his ego and his stupidity.
Waiting to see how the Trump Cultists defend this one.

I'm not so sure Kellyanne is on the level. I suspect she's a somewhat subversive presence. For example I could totally see her writing that NYT op-ed that caused a brief flurry some time back. She has to be subtle about it, but she's dropped a few choice phrases - "alternative facts" comes to mind - that IMO could have been deliberately ridiculous.

Funny how everything with Trump is a brief flurry - vivid when it happens, persistently forgettable in retrospect. Not just among conservatives, either. There's a dreamlike feel to much of Trump's presidency. Trying to hold it together as a narrative is curiously difficult.

Sometimes I have the feeling that we're all just participants in some aliens' version of the Big Brother TV series. "Throw them another crazy plot turn and see what happens!"

What's Donald trying to distract us from now? The latest shiny bauble is that he tweeted that he's withdrawing from North Korea/China sanctions heralded by Bolton and the Treasury Department yesterday.

I think the key there is that the sanctions were more against China than North Korea.

Sometimes I wish CNN/the NYT would downplay these types of stories - just allow his Cabinet to silently seethe over Trump's continuing betrayals. But everyone wants clicks I guess.

Did you see the reason the White House gave for the dropping of the Sanctions?
Because Trump Likes Kim.And that is a literal quote.
Your final sentence is nonsense. When a president makes a fool of himself, the public damn well should know about it.

Putting a man on the Fed board who's monetary commentary is only known for being partisan, illogical, and fact-fudged is a great idea.

I read once that dreams might be our brain's way of flushing the toilet - washing away the neurochemical fragments we manufacture during the course of the day, which we then briefly stitch together as a narrative only to have that perceived coherence slip away moments after waking.

Only this is reality, not reality TV.

I repeat that Moore has pretty much been proclaiming what an economic genius Trump is on CNN is why he got the appointment.
Loyalty toward Dear Leader is all that matters.

I'm not saying don't cover it at all. I think my beef is more with headlines that say "Trump sparks confusion with tweet on North Korea-related sanctions." If no one is speaking on the record about confusion, leave it out of the headline. "Trump cancels North Korea-related sanctions enacted yesterday" serves the purpose just fine, IMO. Are John Bolton and Steve Mnuchin confused? I doubt it. They know perfectly well that Trump just cut them off at the knees.

If someone is saying on the record that they're confused, report that. Otherwise IMO it's needless editorializing. Let the facts speak for themselves.

I am thrilled to be here in Ohio with the hardworking men and women of the Lima Army Tank Plant! We are here today to celebrate a resounding victory for all of you, for Northwest Ohio, for our GREAT MILITARY, and for our entire Country.
I do appreciate your posts so I thought I'd mention you seem to have misattributed the tweet from North Korea state TV to the USA president.

Problem is: China cares way more about gaining control of the SCS than the US cares about keeping it.
So the actual card to play here is to offer recognition of China's control in return for security guarantees and monitoring access.
In theory, the US can't "keep" control of it. It has no right at all to control it.
