If a Democrat did this, the GOP COngresscritters would be screaming loudly.
But now we are getting complete silence from them, despite what Trump did is against all Conservative Foreign Policy principals.
The GOP is no long a political party in the normal sense, it has become an authoritarian personalty cult.

This is the 13th very long thread in which we have been discussing this.....

Yeah but I just watched Trump taking questions about Otto Warmbier and absolving Kim of responsibility after taking the brutal dictator at his word.

Just another day I guess. Apolgists will apologise.

And Hitler knew nothing about the Killing of the Jews
Stalin knew nothng about the Ukraine famine
Milosovic knew nothing about the ethnic cleansing in what used to be Yugoslavia.....

The man has no morals, no sense of decency.
That is they I find the support of him from the evangelical Chirstinas to be such a revoliting act of hypocrisy.

I think the biggest change now that the D's control congress and are using their oversight power is that Trump no longer has such easy control of the media narrative.

Yesterday's Cohen testimony totally dominated Trump's dog and pony show with N. Korea. It isn't going to be as easy for Trump to hand-select the topic du jour anymore. The D's can sink their teeth into the various corruption issues and refuse to let go now that they can conjure up a public hearing at will.

This was what I had thought was one of the key factors about the 2018 elections.

Even Fox News would eventually have to cover a big enough news story.

He wants to be a dictator when he grows up. If he sucks up to them enough, he hopes they'll let him join their club.

The better question is, "What the **** is wrong with us?"

I don't believe that all trumpers are stupid, but they're the only ones who have an excuse. The ones who accept this lying, self-obsessed grifter as a president out of knee-jerk anti-liberalism don't.

Couple of nitpicks:

The AK was a postwar invention. It was based on a similar weapon used during the war, but that predecessor was German.

The Katyusha was a rocket, not a missile. Rockets are low-tech and cheap. Missiles are higher up on both metrics.
I stand corrected. I thought the Kalashnikov assault rifle was the first Russian model, and I doubt I'd make much distinction between rocket and missile if a Katyusha stonk came in and ruined my day. ;)

"I like Americans that don't get tortured to death in gulags"

Dying alone at the hands of a faceless, nameless prison goon is not #winning.

I'm going with... not stupidity, exactly, but if we are to take them at their word and they aren't just being deliberately obtuse, many of them seem to have a very simplistic, black-and-white view of the world. A wall, or at the very least a fence that we call a wall, along the entire Mexican border will work, because the Berlin Wall worked and that was also a wall. Liberals who don't want the US to abandon the Kurds are hypocritical, because all withdrawals are the same.

The obvious problem is you never know when Trumpkins are being genuine and when they're just trolling to pwn teh libz:rolleyes:.

Otto Warmbier did make it home, although with severe brain injuries of indeterminable causes. A young American arrested for taking a poster under an autocratic system headed by a man Trump “takes at his word” and has a “fantastic chemistry” with. The president of the United States is pandering to a brutal dictator who is the antithesis of values that America once minimally paid lip service to and sold to the world in its popular culture. The same is true of his relationships with Putin and Duterte.

Self-centred worship of captialism and the autocratic tendencies of the Christian right to impose their faith based ideas has reached an unholy maturity. Politics is the realm of reason and discourse so authoritarianism, lying and confusion must be their tools if they are not to be left sitting powerless on the sidelines. However the the religious right populous are being strung along by a cynical kleptocracy.

They really want to go back to an ideal America that never really existed.
I think that statement that they want the clock turned back to the 1950's has a lot of truth to it.
And that the 1950's was the last decade before White Male Dominance in America was really challenged has a lot to do with that.
(Yes, I know the CIvil Rights movement got started in the 50's but did not really pick up steam until the 60's.)

The hypocrisy of the Christian Right in supporting somebody as immoral and unethical by Classical Christian Standards as Trump is truly astounding.
