#AmericaFirst –@CLewandowski_ :The media doesn’t want to give @realDonaldTrump the credit for once again exerting American dominance on the world stage & reminding everyone how great a superpower we are. He's leading the world as it’s supposed to be done. #MAGA #TrumpTrain #Dobbs

That's one of the things that really bugs the hell out of me - this notion of American Exceptionalism. It's mostly crap and it's gotten worse since 1980. Regarding Dobbs' invocation of it above, if you have remind people that you're great, you're not.

I am pleased to report that the U.S. has made substantial progress in our trade talks with China on important structural issues including intellectual property protection, technology transfer, agriculture, services, currency, and many other issues. As a result of these very......

....productive talks, I will be delaying the U.S. increase in tariffs now scheduled for March 1. Assuming both sides make additional progress, we will be planning a Summit for President Xi and myself, at Mar-a-Lago, to conclude an agreement. A very good weekend for U.S. & China!
Low chance this was Donny's tweety-thumbs.

We always used to also say if you have to tell everyone how rich you are, you aren't.

How can you consider your comments educational and then immediately declare you had no experience with the subject of the duscussion?

FTFY. Before this, I hadn't dealt with the term. So I verified what it was and determined that the context made it worthwhile to have a basic clarification attached for others who hadn't dealt with it before.

Anyways... time for a bit of a dump of stories of some interest again.

China just gave preliminary approval for 38 Trump trademarked businesses. Already, a lawsuit has been filed by ethics lawyers.

Ethics lawyers argue that if the Trump trademarks receive any special treatment due to their association with the President, it would violate the US Constitution, which prohibits those in public office from accepting anything of value from foreign governments unless they are approved by Congress.

Congress has not approved the China trademarks.

Emoluments, anyone?

Looks like ESPN has been tipped off that Robert Kraft is not even the biggest name among those involved in the Florida Prostitution Ring.

May they all be punished fairly for their crimes in the end. As fairly as any black person, at least.

John Cornyn, Senate Republican Whip, thinks quoting Mussolini is the best way to make a point.

In this case, the point was that Democratic Socialism is bad, because it would mean that central government is too powerful?

Oh, and for the "fun" of it... A few examples of how civil MAGA people are in speech and action.

Because telling people that they should be in Auschwitz, that they might have to kill black people, that black people should still be slaves, and generally looking for fights is civil.

In related news to that... Trump's legacy: Hate groups are at an all-time high

A new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center tells us what we already suspected when we see and read news reports: There are a record number of hate groups in the United States, driven by both shifting demographics and Trumped-up fears of immigration.

The SPLC gives us the discouraging numbers both on its website and in its spring Intelligence Report:

The number of hate groups reached an all-time high of 1,020 in 2018.
The number was the fourth straight year of hate group growth, or 30 percent growth overall.
In 2018, at least 40 people in the U.S. and Canada were killed by people either motivated by or attracted to far-right ideologies, embracing ideas and philosophies that are cornerstones of the alt-right. “Violence that has traditionally been in the shadows of racist extremism is increasingly taking to the streets,” the report said.
During the first few years of President Obama’s second term, hate crimes actually fell by 12 percent.
When Donald Trump announced that he was running for president and started his anti-immigrant rhetoric about “building a wall,” the number started rising again.
Hate crimes grew by 30 percent from 2014 to 2017 (2018 hate crime figures are not available yet from the FBI).

Trump, uniting the country...
So much so that -

The SPLC report quotes former U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford saying that Trump has “unearthed some demons.”

Lo, though, there's also a reminder that not all Republicans are complete ********. 2 Republicans in Utah introduced a bill to end gay conversion "therapy" for minors. Small comfort for the future of the Republican Party in the larger picture, but it's certainly a good thing to give praise where praise is due and condemnation where condemnation is due.

The 17 states where Trump's approval meets or exceeds 50% account for a combined total of 102 electoral votes. In contrast, the states in which Trump has an approval rating below 40% account for 201 electoral votes.

Gallup.com said:
In order to get to the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency, Trump would have to win all but one or two of the states in which his 2018 approval rating was between 41% and 49%. Some of the more challenging states to win from among this group, based on that approval rating, would be Texas (41%); Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan (all at 42%); and Arizona and Florida (43%). Trump won all of those states in 2016, and thus it is certainly possible that he can do so again. But he clearly has a lot of ground to make up in those states to get close enough to 50% that he can finish with more electoral votes nationwide than the Democratic candidate.

And to add your information dump, there's this...

An Alabama Newspaper editor has been calling for the KKK to ride again and to clean up D.C.

"The newspaper’s longtime editor, Goodloe Sutton has received widespread criticism of an editorial he wrote railing against “Democrats in the Republican Party and Democrats” and calling for the return of the most infamous white supremacist group in the nation’s history.

In an interview with The Montgomery Advertiser, he went even further, suggesting that the Klan “go up there and clean out D.C.”

Here is the full editorial

"Time for the Ku Klux Klan to night ride again

Democrats in the Republican Party and Democrats are plotting to raise taxes in Alabama.

They do not understand how to eliminate expenses when money is needed in other areas. This socialist-communist ideology sounds good to the ignorant, the uneducated, and the simple-minded people.

People who do not understand the constitution do not like to be responsible.

Slaves, just freed after the Civil War, were not stupid. At times, they borrowed their former masters' robes and horses and rode through the night to frighten some evil-doer. Sometimes they had to kill one or two of them, but so what.

This is the same so what was used [sic] when Democrats got us into World War I and World War II. Then they got us fighting in Korea. Next when the industrial Northeast wanted more money, they got us in the Vietnam war, and now in the Middle East war.

If you haven't noticed, they did away with the draft so their sons would not have to go into battle.

Seems like the Klan would be welcome to raid the gated communities up there. They call them compounds now.

Truly, they are the ruling class"

Sutton has been forced to step down amid all that criticism, but here is the best bit. The new editor is Elecia Dexter - a black woman!

Yeehaaa!! Is that going to chap the Good Old Boy's arse or what?

Does anyone have any idea where he's pulling his poll figures from, this time? No poll that anyone's ever heard of has him over 50%.

HOLD THE DATE! We will be having one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C., on July 4th. It will be called “A Salute To America” and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial. Major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite President, me!

As I noted in my book One Nation Under God, when Nixon was under fire in early 1970, he and his supporters planned a Fourth of July rally at the Lincoln Memorial which they called "Honor America Day."

Billy Graham and Bob Hope unveiled the plans this way:

That would be a tough bar to get over under any circumstances, but even limited to July 4th celebrations the bar is pretty high.

I was there in 1976 for the Bicentennial. I doubt he's going to match that turnout.

Probably not all that much. She was his choice, and as sole owner/operator of the newspaper it is unlikely he was forced into it. It's not like there was a board of directors or any shareholders to bully him into it.

We have a State of Emergency at our Southern Border. Border Patrol, our Military and local Law Enforcement are doing a great job, but without the Wall, which is now under major construction, you cannot have Border Security. Drugs, Gangs and Human Trafficking must be stopped!

Be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts, etc.) than almost any other Pres!

Oil prices getting too high. OPEC, please relax and take it easy. World cannot take a price hike - fragile!

Meeting for breakfast with our Nation’s Governors - then off to Vietnam for a very important Summit with Kim Jong Un. With complete Denuclearization, North Korea will rapidly become an Economic Powerhouse. Without it, just more of the same. Chairman Kim will make a wise decision!

Hey, I was there too! Now, that was an awesome fireworks show, the largest in the world up to that time -- I don't know if it still holds the record. I think they estimated 1 million people were there, so not as big as Obama's inauguration, but it was amazing to be in a crowd that size.

If you repeat it enough, Trumpists will eat it up.

But I blame Reagan. In fact I blame Reagan for Trump as well.

Former Senator Harry Reid (he got thrown out) is working hard to put a good spin on his failed career. He led through lies and deception, only to be replaced by another beauty, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer. Some things just never change!

I hope our great Republican Senators don’t get led down the path of weak and ineffective Border Security. Without strong Borders, we don’t have a Country - and the voters are on board with us. Be strong and smart, don’t fall into the Democrats “trap” of Open Borders and Crime!
