I'm wondering how the left are planning for forgive him. If he had hoaxed this from the perspective of drawing attention to racism it would have been easy. Hey, it was just a ham fisted attempt to do the right thing, just apologise and move on. But he apparently did it out of personal greed. How are they going to spin that one?

If it's seen as just an actor trying what ever he can to further his career I think he might get away with it. It would be seen as a "pure" act of self determination. I guess you could call it the Donald Trump Defense™.

The Religious Right will bend over backwards to forgive or ignore the indiscretions of wife-beaters, shameless philanderers, and pedophiles as "not that big of a deal"; meanwhile, left-wing darlings like Al Franken are forced out by the left when their indiscretions come to light, or made pariahs if they simply refuse to leave, like Northam.

This was not a genuine news story, although some readers mistook it for such. The Babylon Bee is a satirical website whose disclaimer notes that “The Babylon Bee is Your Trusted Source For Christian News Satire.”

Some people indeed don't realize it and spread it in earnest.

I don't know...I think they have to make an example of him. Also, I might be more inclined to agree if he hadn't have done the white powder in the envelope thing. I think the feds will come down hard on him for that.

What a dumb dumb scheme this was. I guess the plan was to show that he is risking his life by appearing in the show as a black gay character. Thus he should get more pay because of that risk. When the letter(s?) didn’t generate the desired pay negotiations, he decided to show that the risk was real. I mean that’s some just plain dumb thinking right there. Whatever happened to threatening to leave the show if he didn’t get more pay?

He clearly thought his plan was flawless and there was almost no chance of getting caught. If he had had just one stray thought,” what happens if I get caught?” he probably would have realized there was a good chance that he would lose everything and do jail time. Forget CPD, he clearly didn’t think about the Feds and the real trouble he can catch for messing with the mail. I don’t see how he could weigh the consequences with the possible (and not guaranteed) benefits and think, “let’s do this!”

This is just baffling to me. I’ve never seen the show or heard him sing, but he clearly has the talent and work ethic to be successful. So how did it get to a point where he thought this was a good idea?
