First actual evidence besides he said he said: $3500. If there is evidence of that payment, now it has gone beyond speculation based on questionable impressions.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Genuine hate crimes are ignorant acts of weakness, but this... This is just an embarrassing attempt to prey on the guilt and trust of the people.

He's a little ******** who should have an example made of him.

We're in an age of people trusting one another less and less, and little plebs like Jussie Smollet are only furthering the gap of trust between those people, for the sake of what, his bollocks career on a bollocks show? Amazing, and far more entertaining than an episode of Empire.

I don't think that will matter.

I think the false police report will be that he was assaulted.
It would not depend on the color of the assailant.
 
Unless it was a professional make-up job, I think it's also pretty dumb to risk damaging your money-maker (face) by injuring it with a scratch.

Maybe so, but we are still trying to solve puzzles here in our armchairs.

One thing that puzzles me is why didn't Smollett just tell the cops that his attackers were white? Or even say that he's nearly certain they are white? There is a place on the report where you can type in the race. How simple it would be to type "white". But no, there is nothing there.

I don't think it's left blank because it's obvious that they are going to be white. I think it's blank because Smollett said that he could not identify the race.

It's clear in the report that the attackers are white, even though it is not specifically noted.

I believe he said that it was cold outside and their faces were covered.
 
He is under arrest for a felony which carries up to 3 years in prison. No telling what the actual sentence will be though. Mail fraud, on the other hand, can be up to 20 years in this situation, if I were him I would be worried.
 
I was a bit disappointed when the police superintendent said he thought Jussie should apologize and pay a big fine rather than serve jail time.
