Where will Trump be two years from now?

To answer the original question asked by this thread, my best most serious guess is: Russia. Trump will take one last trip on AF1 and that's where it will be to, to avoid prosecution in NY state.

He'd have to be right at the edge of the cliff before he'd agree to "ill health," because that in itself would indicate weakness. He'll have to be able to say that he "won" the presidency. If it goes until 2020, he'll simply say that he's kept all the promises that he made, accomplished more than anyone else in history, so he's done.

Maybe he could do that midterm? "Look, I've already done everything I promised, but it took only 2 years instead of 4! What else is there for me to do?"
While he's in office, he is afforded a certain amount of protection. He leaves office, and it becomes much easier to charge him for crimes. Now, its possible that Pence would pardon him for federal crimes, but there are more than enough state charges that he could be brought up on.

So, his best option is to hold on to office as tightly as he can, hoping for a miracle re-election in 2020.

And this destroys Trump how?

True.
The only person to destroy Trump is Trump himself: even after having become President (by whatever means), it's not enough to make him feel like a success: unless he is the BEST President, he will have failed in his own eyes, and the imagined eyes of his father from beyond the grave.
Unless his replacement-Dad (Vlad) accepts him, he will always feel like he was destroyed.

That is definitely a narrative.

Nah, he'll always be the best president in his own eyes.

"Because impeachment is not about punishment,” he said. “Impeachment is about cleansing the office. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office"
If that's what impeachment is about, then Congress isn't even remotely qualified to ever do it.

I'm pretty sure impeachment is about removing a president who just isn't working out, by consensus of the legislature.

Interesting theory. Could be why he's pushing so hard for the wall? His last "promise" "fufilled" so he can leave?

It'd tick me off too, but if I knew that was the case I'd build the damn wall :D
Someone mentioned today he sees the the wall as a tribute to him.

Not so sure it will take any sort of miracle. Consider the track record and willingness of the GOP to use any tactic and any policy, wild or not, needed to gain and keep white power. Witness the Senate even now, with McConnell clearly failing in his mandated constitutional duties under Obama and Trump. Consider the "moderates" like Romney who just signaled their allegiance to Russia by lifting sanctions with no quid-pro-quo.

What are these people -- and their financial backers, with wads of cash to protect from Otasio-Cortez -- going to do for 2020? Not certain. However, it is crystal clear that Trump will double-down and be more extreme, possibly including many more shout-outs to the "second amendment people." If not a foreign adventure to garner support as Commander-in-Chief, there will be continued manufactured domestic crises. Given the large, glue-sniffing Fox News crowd, not certain the electoral college won't go Trump's way again.

Trump frequently talks about walking away from a bad deal, I wouldn't put it past him to simply walk away from the Presidency. A backroom deal to resign in exchange for a promise he would not be prosecuted for his many crimes could happen at any time, with "ill health" as the official reason.
That would be awesome, but I'm not sure letting him off the hook legally is for the best. Although actually Pence could do this quite easily.

IOW a Nixon situation, but I liked Gerald Ford way more than I like Pence. Being stuck with Pence might not be so great for the country either.

I finally voted in this poll, and I voted 'Impeached'.

Considering the real possibility that Trump may now have to deal with subornation of perjury issues as well as Russia collusion issues, then I expect that within a matter of months that nearly all of the congressional Democrats and that several of the congressional Republicans will finally start to formally bring Trump down.

Impeached, yeah thats coming. And it just takes a simple majority in the House. Removed from office takes a two thirds majority in the Senate. That means 20 GOP Senators.
