Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen remains on track to testify before Congress in February, but he is concerned for his family, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

Cohen agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee on February 7. One of the sources said Cohen is concerned that a public hearing would make things worse for his family and is concerned about their safety. Trump publicly suggested in a Fox News interview over the weekend, without providing evidence, that he is aware of damaging information about Cohen's family.

The source said Cohen was glad that the chairman of the committee, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, put out a strong statement condemning Trump's remarks to Fox.

The pee tape seems like pure spite to me. I know it was prostitutes he supposedly got to pee on the bed the Obamas had slept in whilst he watched, but that doesn't make it a "sexual matter". I don't think his supporters would be bothered by the pee tape, given all the other evidence of how disgusting a human being he is they've already seen and ignored, and Trump is probably proud of it. Unsure enough of how it would be generally received not to particularly want it released, but not concerned enough for it to be usable as blackmail material.

As much as Trump's a buffoon, sometimes I think maybe he really is a willing agent. Imagine him getting into his room at the White House, removing false fat to reveal a buff physique, and then entering a secret room to radio Putin directly and report, in a completely well-thought and deliberate manner. Ok, don't imagine that too much, if you value your sanity, but I find the thought funny.
 
We're thinking too narrowly when we debate if Putin controls Trump with a piss tape, or X, or Y. I suspect the compromising material is a lengthy dossier that includes all sorts of stuff, in particular shady financial dealings.

Further, it's likely that Trump is adding to that dossier every time he meets with Putin.

WOW.! I absolutely disagree. According to Comey, Trump almost freaked out about the Pee Pee story. It doesn't really matter that his supporters wouldn't abandon him. It's about being a laughing stock in way that mortifies him.

I don't believe the story is likely to be true. But that doesn't mean that Trump wouldn't be extremely embarrassed about it. That's great blackmail ammo.

That was essentially an SNL sketch about Regan, that as soon as the senior staff left the idiot president alone he dropped the act and started talking hardball with foreign leaders.

It was funny because it was unbelievable. Same as trump having any sort of human intelligence.

Pretty much the only thing that has not actually been confirmed is the aforementioned tape.

I have an open mind on it. I could believe that people would want to sell false stories to discredit the true ones, and the more salacious, the better. On the other hand, it's not implausible, given who we're dealing with.

It's gotten to the point where I'm not sure what would be implausible with that guy.

A video of him watching some hookers peeing would not amount to much, a video of him naked jerking off to them would be another thing.

Even given my less than forgiving opinions of the thing, I’m sure that he is not running a child-sex-trafficking ring out of the basement of a pizza parlor.

I will definitely think that any allegations against him of that level of stupidity are outright lies.

Can you imagine plausibly writing the same about any previous president. Or practically anyone who wanted to be elected to anything?
 
If Trump wasn't constantly judged by Trump standards and instead was held up to the expectations of all other Presidents, he would never have been elected, if elected impeached and when impeached imprisoned, no question.
If you could send out a blind report on Trump's proven transgressions, removing all identifying markers, to judges, prosecutors and Senators, the overwhelming response would be "Lock Him Up!".

The only modern impeachment is Clinton, and that was lying to a grand jury. Trump does not appear to have lied under.oath.
