It strikes me as exactly the sort of petty, spiteful thing Trump would do. Obama mocked him and made important people laugh at him whilst the whole world was watching; for someone with narcissistic personality disorder that was the worst thing that could possibly happen to him. I also have no trouble believing Putin has a tape of it. What I don't believe is that it's an effective blackmail tool. Show that tape to most of Trump's core supporters and they'd cheer.

Nah, if there's any Kompromat, it's that Trump's actually destitute; that he's not the wealthy playboy he says he is; that the money he has is entirely beholden to Russian interests. I think that revelation would destroy his fragile ego more than anything else.

At that stage, he wouldn't care about his ego - all his property would be repossessed overnight.
Without the image of wealth, Trump will be lucky to find a corner on which he is allowed to beg.

The problem here is that the President does not actually have the power to order who can and cannot be prosecuted, that is a determination made by the AG only. He can recommend to his AG that he not be prosecuted, but ultimately that decision is in the hands of the AG. The President can also fire an AG that decides to prosecute, however that might well end up being another Saturday Night Massacre, and we all know how well the last one went.

Of course there is also the question as to the ability to actually indict and prosecute a sitting President, which has arguments on both sides and has yet to be tested in Court.

The most likely event in when a President was found to have taken indictable actions, is that the House will start Impeachment as this is the mandated way in the Constitution to remove such a President, after while, assuming he is found guilty and removed and that his successor does not Pardon him, indictments can be made and prosecution begun.

The last Saturday night massacre went fine.

Nothing happened to him. He chose to resogn. He didn't have a boss, no one made him, it was his choice.

You seem to be missing a few things, like the new special counsel being appointed 11 days later, and then 3 days later the courts ruling the firings were illegal resulting in the loss of public support and the increased support for Impeachment. You also seem to have missed that the new special counsel subpoenaed the White House Tapes, and after fighting it through the courts and finally losing, resulting in articles of Impeachment being brought before the House, that was went he resigned.

None of that matters. You can't control what independent groups do. He was absolutely allowed to fire the AG.

But if his actions re Stormy Daniels demonstrated anything, it was that he could be blackmailed over sexual matters.

It's not that I think it is impossible. I certainly wouldn't put it beyond Trump. Just that it's such an outrageous story.

It's an effective tool if Trump is mortified that people found out it's true. He'd be the golden showers President. The jokes would never ever stop.

What makes the story credible to me is that it is exactly the kind of thing Russian Putin-backed Oligarchs would do: send girls to the room of a guy they want to do business with - it's very probable that Trump (with no clue of Moscow) would not have ordered or paid for them.
It's a way to hook Trump on the lifestyle as well as create something to hold over him.
