457 days until 2,300 days - Daniel 8:14

What's that line from Buffy the Vampire Slaying about never imagining you'd have to know the plural form of "Apocalypse?"

You guys misinterpreted the good word, What he meant was this;

We have entered into the "age to come" foretold by Jesus in Mark 10:30.

Kinda disappointed in your “age to come” explanation for this “cleansing of the filth” forecast. Maybe I’m just stupid but I don’t see where one relates to the other. I know some of the old Millerites eventually decided that the cleansing occurred in heaven and not on Earth as a justification for a failed prophecy but that’s a script that’s been played for about 175 years now and is rather unconvincing in our modern times.

At least we know you have been back to monitor our opinions. Maybe the reverse can happen. Maybe you can take stock of your beliefs and see the faults in them that some of us can see. Believe what I say for I have been there. I used to believe some really wacky things with no evidence whatsoever but my blind faith in something that I wanted to believe.

Even the great warrior and leader Sitting Bull succombed to the Ghost Shirt delusion because he was so desperate to restore the familiarity of his people’s history. So sad.

Hopefully you can use this time to reflect, review, and critique your beliefs. Keep an open mind and ask yourself why your god is always letting you down. We know you are watching. Be honest with yourself.

Note to self: always remember to ask, in these repent-sinners-the-end-is-nigh threads, the following question:

"If the [end of the world / rain of blood and fire / apocalypse / great reckoning / rapture] that you're predicting does take place on [the date you're predicting], will we actually notice? Or will we need you to come back and explain how we've now entered some sort of new era that's outwardly indistinguishable from the former one?"

WWJS - What Would Jesus Steal?

Apparently world domination. That's the worrisome thing. It's going to be a Theocracy where he will be the high priest and his favorites the ruling class.

Myles mentions the Seventh-Day Adventist fudge created when the 1843,4 return fizzled. So Jesus didn't come to Earth but went into the Holy of Holies of the Heavenly Sanctuary to begin the "Investigative Judgement."

Now Jesus is reviewing your case. If you have exhibited obedience to God's Commandments, your name will remain in The Book of Life, and when Jesus returns you'll get resurrected or taken up to Heaven.

After a thousand years, Jesus will recreate the Earth and the obedient will settle on it. It will be a paradise of people who do what they are told. No need for Human, democratic, republican governments.

So nice!

Sadly that is how my father suggested we live our lives when he was into the Worldwide Church of God out of Pasadena CA.

He believed and preached unthinking obedience to Bible based ideals as interpreted by his chosen leader.
The other parts of life one just faked fitting into as best possible while awaiting the rapture.

He was still quite worldly about nice stuff and making good money but as they tithed up to offering copies of tax papers to the church such things were accepted.

With only 3,000 souls going to glory of a church of tens of thousands the competition was tough

He was sure he made the short list. He and Elwin could talk for days if dementia hadn't set in. Or maybe it would help?

You have to have faith to notice. Elwin's prediction did come to pass but non-believers like you and I couldn't see it.

The magic number for early Seventh-Day Adventists was 144,000.
Their prophet, Ellen G. White had a vision of the 144,000 "standing in a perfect square" before the throne of God.

Before I became an SDA, I looked into joining the Worldwide Church of God. A couple of representatives visited me. They were so narrow minded and full of themselves that I dismissed any further contact.

It amazes me how theists can apparently choose what god to believe in and what sect to worship in as if they’re merely choosing what clothing to wear for the day. A whole god/sect can be dismissed merely because “a couple of representatives were narrow minded and full of themselves” - amazing!.

If there was an actual and correct god and a correct religious sect through which to worship it, then wouldn't it be reasonable to expect that such a god would make its own existence and the correct sect obvious? Especially when getting the god and/or sect wrong would have such dire consequences if that god were true. Why do we get thousands of gods and thousands of sects? Could it possibly be it’s because there are no correct gods or sects as they’re all wrong (DOH!)?

That will be a miraculous sight to see, a perfect square formed by 379.47331922 rows of 379.47331922 people each.
