Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

The worse part is that most of the Republicans in Congress know how absurd the wall is for all these (and many more) reasons, but when pushed they dutifully get in line and mouth their enthusiastic support. They are willing to waste $7 billion of our money for this useless idiocy solely for political spin, the public consumption of their stupidest supporters, and to avoid the wraith and massage the ego of the Prez.

How dirty they must feel when they get home. Or are they well past that and completely desensitized to the degradation?

To be fair there is a lot of atupid out there.

The only way to stop drugs, gangs, human trafficking, criminal elements and much else from coming into our Country is with a Wall or Barrier. Drones and all of the rest are wonderful and lots of fun, but it is only a good old fashioned Wall that works!

Trump went with the slatted fence/"transparent wall" because someone might get hit with drugs being thrown over. This design avoids that: they can just be passed through the openings. As for gangs, anyone here have an estimate of how long it would take to cut through one of those slats? Locked doors only keep out people who aren't willing to break in.

Bill Clinton is charismatic. Hillary has all the charm of a turnip.

I disagree regarding Hillary. I've always liked her both politically and as a person. Frankly, I think people are much harder on women than men when it comes to politics (and several other areas of life). I find her to be not only extremely intelligent and competent, but I like her sense of humor. I've always admired her. The fact the GOP has been relentless in their attacks on her from the time she was First Lady of Arkansas indicates just how much they feared her. Sadly, I think her chances of ever becoming president are over. Instead, we got the Great Orange Turd.

Exactly, at times I listen to the talking conservative bobblehead shows on the radio (just for craps and chuckles). One was making a challenge to anyone who thought the wall wouldn't work, to remove their front door. Simply their typical histrionic hyperbole to say the least. As already noted having a door does nothing to deter entry when said entry is happening through, say, a window. A door does other things beside deter entry, like keep pets and the heat or AC in. Also as you note and a friend of mine (when we worked at a company that designed and made tamper evident locks, among other things) use to say "Locks only stop honest people". The locks themselves weren't designed to try to keep people out but simply to show that the equipment, cargo or whatever had potentially been accessed.

From the WSJ article:

Gen. Neller said the defense secretary isn’t scheduled to step down until late February, which can allow time for a successor to be appointed and confirmed by the Senate, and for adequate continuity at the top of the department.

Hmmm...about that, General...

The more than 500 Georgians here don’t just stand guard, but conduct routine patrols around the base, and need Marines or other U.S. troops to call in air support if they find themselves under attack. The U.S. relationship with the Georgian forces is part of a broader bilateral relationship. An abrupt U.S. pullout could sour an alliance with strategic repercussions as the U.S. faces down an ever-more aggressive Russia.

"No, Mr. President, not the state...the country, there is a country called Georgia."

My fantasy scenario--

Aide: Um, sir... Your signature was illegible on many of these documents so they will have to be signed again.
Trump: Signed again?
Aide: Yes. To save you some effort, we have consolidated the documents into one single one.
Trump: Great!
Aide: Now, all you have to do is put your signature on the bottom of this one, right under where it says "I re-sign" and that will take care of everything.
Trump: Done and done!
:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

We signed two pieces of major legislation this week, Criminal Justice Reform and the Farm Bill. These are two Big Deals, but all the Fake News Media wants to talk about is “the mistake” of bringing our young people back home from the Never Ending Wars. It all began 19 years ago!

Senator Bob Corker just stated that, “I’m so priveledged to serve in the Senate for twelve years, and that’s what I told the people of our state that’s what I’d do, serve for two terms.” But that is Not True - wanted to run but poll numbers TANKED when I wouldn’t endorse him.....

.....Bob Corker was responsible for giving us the horrible Iran Nuclear Deal, which I ended, yet he badmouths me for wanting to bring our young people safely back home. Bob wanted to run and asked for my endorsement. I said NO and the game was over. #MAGA I LOVE TENNESSEE!

I met her once, and she was very charming.

On the day after the 2016 election, the son of one of Hillary's long-time friend held an adoption party, to celebrate the adoption of their child. Hillary couldnt make it, of course, but she calles to congratulate them and told them how happy she was for them.

The day after the worst day of her life, she is able to celebrate other's happiness.

Lack of charm?

That's not charm, it's basic human decency towards one's friends. It's only the contrast with Trump's lack of empathy with anyone but his children one of his children, that makes it noteworthy.

I don't know much about her in terms of her charm and likeability(only through the lens of the media) but I do know that no-one ever threw their hat into the ring with greater understanding of what the job entailed or who had been better prepared to do it.

Maintaining Americas position as the worlds sole superpower is a never ending conflict because there's always going to be those seeking to take its place. Trump is all about how he made America STRONK AGAIN but he doesn't have a clue what the point of all that military might is meant for. All he really cares for is that it's the biggest and best and also shiny.

Thanks @RandPaul “I am very proud of the President. This is exactly what he promised, and I think the people agree with him. We’ve been at war too long and in too many places...spent several trillion dollars on these wars everywhere. He’s different...that’s why he got elected.”
