From a time when it was convenient for the values party to preach honour and integrity:
In archival video shared last night by MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell, Graham, then a House of Representatives member, argued that a president can be removed “if this body [Congress] determines that your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role . . . because impeachment is not about punishment. Impeachment is about cleansing the office. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office.”

The Snowflake in Chief thinks there should be a legal challenge as to whether SNL can belittle him.

And in doing so simply adds to the crop of low hanging fruit for the show. If only he could be less of stupid thin-skinned narcissistic grifter.

Graham only thinks that if it's a Dem president because a Republican president always brings honor and integrity to the office.

Did you mean meaningful? Otherwise I don't follow. The problem of course is that these people argue this is a Christian nation when in fact while most of the people may identify as Christian, the nation or government itself is secular

No, I meant meaningless. Certain Christian groups throughout history including that occurring now have made their organizations' lifeblood all about being persecuted. It's a repeating theme. It's how you get group members to follow the leader(s).

No longer being persecuted, the flock will mosey away. Got to keep up that persecution, war on Christmas, it's a classic motivator, us vs them..

There must be something of a divine hand in the appointment of a Republican presdential candidate and Jesus with a guiding hand on Trump’s shoulder. How else do you explain this transformation?:

There is a man who sold his soul. What a tragedy.

True. Feelings of persecution, whether real or imagined, are a unifying force.
Trump is using it now with his constant claims of "Witch Hunt", "Conflicted Mueller and his 13 Angry Democrats", "They want to embarrass me", etc. He presents himself as the victim and, as we've seen, his supporters rally around him even more strongly.

That's not the real Lindsey Graham! He was a look-a-like controlled by the Democrats' Deep State operatives. FAKE NEWS!

I got it. They sure like pretending they are the persecuted ones,

It's a death cult, what do you expect.

Worship this guy who died. Venerate these other people who died for worshiping the guy who died. All the rewards for doing the stuff that people who died told us to do will come...after you die.

Don't forget to give us 10% of your money (preferably before you die).

Trump tweets

Required television watching is last weeks @marthamaccallum interview with the wonderful wife of Rod Blagojevich and the @trish_regan interview with a Jerome Corsi. If that doesn’t tell you something about what has been going on in our Country, nothing will. Very sad!

More on the Blagojevich angle:

Given how seldom Trump manages to reach across the aisle, his recommendation of the Blagojevich interview seems especially jarring. During her interview, Blagojevich attempted to draw similarities between her husband’s well-documented efforts to try to sell then-President-elect Barack Obama’s former Senate seat and the breaking revelations about federal investigators’ probe into Trump’s inaugural committee. “It’s a very dirty business when these prosecutors, with their unchecked power and no oversight at all, can go after any politician,” Patricia Blagojevich argued.

Before being sent to prison, Blagojevich was impeached by the Illinois legislature for trying to sell gubernatorial appointments, including Obama’s Senate seat. “I’ve got this thing, and it’s ******* golden. I’m not going to give it up for nothing,” he said of the seat, as captured on a later released FBI wiretap.

Patricia Blagojevich has been crusading for Trump to issue her husband a pardon; in May, Trump hinted that he’s considering commuting his sentence. If Trump were do so, it would make the former Illinois governor only the most recent of several political figures—including former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and conservative commentator Dinesh D’Sousa—to be granted clemency by the president.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is going to be releasing reports on the extent of Russian disinfo support for Trump.

A report prepared for the Senate that provides the most sweeping analysis yet of Russia’s disinformation campaign around the 2016 election found the operation used every major social media platform to deliver words, images and videos tailored to voters’ interests to help elect President Trump — and worked even harder to support him while in office.

The report, a draft of which was obtained by The Washington Post, is the first to study the millions of posts provided by major technology firms to the Senate Intelligence Committee, led by Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), its chairman, and Sen. Mark Warner (Va.), its ranking Democrat. The bipartisan panel hasn’t said whether it endorses the findings. It plans to release it publicly along with another study later this week.

...

The Russians aimed particular energy at activating conservatives on issues such as gun rights and immigration, while sapping the political clout of left-leaning African American voters by undermining their faith in elections and spreading misleading information about how to vote. Many other groups — Latinos, Muslims, Christians, gay men and women, liberals, Southerners, veterans — got at least some attention from Russians operating thousands of social media accounts.

The report also offered some of the first detailed analyses of the role played by YouTube, a subsidiary of Google, and Instagram, owned by Facebook, in the Russian campaign, as well as anecdotes about how Russians used other social media platforms — Google+, Tumblr and Pinterest — that have received relatively little scrutiny. The Russian effort also used email accounts from Yahoo, Microsoft’s Hotmail service and Google’s Gmail.

The authors, while reliant on data provided by technology companies, also highlighted the companies' “belated and uncoordinated response” to the disinformation campaign and, once it was discovered, their failure to share more with investigators. The authors urged that in the future they provide data in “meaningful and constructive” ways.

This is the point. The type of meditation taught in schools and on my high school football team is necessarily secular. It's about learning to concentrate.

That is their real objection. Its NOT ABOUT GOD and their argument is that it should be and it should be about their god. So much of religion and Christianity is one cannot be neutral. Neutral in their book is impossible. You're either with them or against them.

They're afraid if people learn emotional and mental coping skills, there is no need for their sky-daddy. And their fear is probably justified. But that doesn't make meditation religious.

The stress-management classes that I've had at work shouldn't even be called "meditation" except in the loosest definition of the term, IMO: It doesn't involve contemplating any religious, ideological or philosophical questions at all, or even any introspection, so any resemblance to religious meditation is pretty superficial. It uses many of the same techniques as self-hypnosis to induce a "trance-like state," which is actually just a state of heightened suggestibility not much different than that experienced when absorbed in a movie or novel, but with the only "suggestion" being that you should let go of your stress and relax. Most people find that it works, and like hypnosis, a critical factor is the belief that it works. Sports psychiatrists use similar techniques to encourage "visualizing success" of a flawless performance, which can often overcome mental blocks and doubts that interfere with best performance.

like any 'End-Times' cult, Evangelicals hate anything that makes life better, as it removes the sense of urgency to sign up before next week's Rapture.

I find it disappointing but not surprising that only after the Democrats took the House (and will assume control of the House intelligence committee in January) does the Senate committee start falling over itself to release reports, check old testimony for blatant lies, and generally do its damned job for the first time in two years. Can't have someone accusing them of being willfully negligent hacks deserving of being roped into a RICO suit, now can we?

[ETA] That or getting ahead of the truth with "reports" that just say "nothing to see here, move on."

Back when George H.W.Bush was running for Texas governor against Ann Richards, she made fun of his sometimes mangled syntax, saying, “Poor George can’t help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth.” Bush was tickled and sent her a necklace with a little silver foot on it.

Either one of them was a thousand times better than Perry, Paxton, Patrick, and Abbott combined.

And Senator John McCain was able to joke about himself when he appeared on SNL.
