Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

Somehow, a couple of posts above lead me to this.

By that definition, Trump is far more a BS'r than a liar.

ETA: Kindly replace the asterisks in the quoted material with "Male Bovine Feces." Thank you.

I agree if that is the definition. But I simply don't agree that it should be. As one who knows a few ********ters who exaggerate from time to time. One who can spin a good yarn can almost be charming. And that is what bothers me. There is NOTHING charming about Trump and his bull ****.

In my book he's a liar through and through. Take for example The Washington Post's new factchecking rating 'Bottomless Pinochios' This is reserved for claims that have been debunked and repeated more than 30 times. One could argue after repeating a false claim a few times that one doesn't know the truth and is ********ting, but at some point it becomes clear that they have no excuse and they are definitely lying.

If one is willing to say anything without regards to it being truthful about something material And important, in my book they are lying.

Some amusing news tangentially related to Trump and his legal team:
The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), a conservative Christian watchdog group, has launched a legal campaign to fight what it calls “Buddhist meditation” in American public schools. The group takes issue with the secular mindfulness programs that have been implemented in some schools, in which audio recordings guide students through stress-reduction practices. The organization says that mindfulness practices “equate to Buddhism.”

The ACLJ is a Christian conservative watchdog group founded by televangelist Pat Robertson, who in the past has compared Buddhism to a disease. Jay Sekulow, the organization’s chief counsel, is on President Trump’s legal team. One of the ACLJ’s main activities is the promotion of Christian prayer in public schools.

“We’re launching a multifaceted legal campaign including representing parents of these students, sending demand letters, state FOIA requests, and if necessary, litigation,” reads a petition on the organization’s website. “Indoctrinating young kids in public schools with Buddhist meditation is outright unconstitutional.

Linky.

These guys are idiots. They destroy their own argument in the second sentence which admits the program is secular.

Telling children to be aware of their own mind and body is hardly unconstitutional or religious. That the ACLJ chooses to equate it with Buddhism is their own problem. I bet there are dozens of other sources for that kind of meditation.

But I see this as more of a fund raising letter. Have to justify their existence and donations.

...

Said one caller on Sekulow’s radio program, “This is toxic ideology. This goes beyond just bad education. This could be corrupting our children’s eternal souls. I have two small children, and I don’t want them sitting around just thinking about creation and goodness and peace. I mean, if my two angels, who are innocent, are gonna be learning about explorers, they should be learning about Jesus or Trump.”

Linky.

This is the mentality of the far right religious zealots that scares the crap out of me. I remember the days of reading from the Bible and forced prayer in schools. I hated it then...and I was only in 3rd grade. My sister was told in class that she was "going to hell" by a fellow student (who just happened to be the son of my father's flight navigator) because she wouldn't bow her head and pray in class. These kinds of religious nuts scare me more than anyone.

Yeah, these people concern me too. They are not going to get anywhere with this. But they might raise a lot of money.

Every study I've read about religiosity is that it's been waning steadily for the last 100 years. It's a generational decline. My parents were both Christians but we never went to church very often although they sent my brother and I both to Bible Camps every summer where I learned not to believe. My brother says he's a Christian, but I doubt he has stepped foot in a Church outside of his wedding in the last 30 years and none of his kids have more than a few times.

What America has is a lot of people that say they are believers, but not a clue about the religion they say they believe in. Few of them go to church outside of special occasions. Most of them see it about just being a good person.

I see a lot of this as 'last gasp. A desperate attempt to hang on to the past.

It doesn't worry me that much. Let's see them actually win some court cases and then I might get nervous.

He really is like some comig book villain, isn't he. Only needs the doomsday weap...

...oh.

...A bunch of writers, I think, have complained that publishers wouldn't publish them if they wrote a villain as obvious and farcical as Trump, because the villain just wouldn't be believable enough. American writers, at least. I enjoy reading some translated stories and... Trump might fit in just fine in one of the Chinese stories. Possibly Japanese, too, come to think of it, given his behavior towards women.

.....

A writer can make any particular character as weird as he wants, and he still won't be as weird as some real human beings. What's completely implausible and unbelievable is that the Republican Party made him their presidential nominee, and the American people elected him President.

That could just never, ever happen, right?

FTFY

As M. Twain said, “ Truth is stranger than fiction because fiction has to make sense.”

That could just never, ever happen, right?

Hey, don’t look at me: I’m still trying to figure out how his unapologetic attitude about the grab-them-by-the-pussy comment didn’t end his political career.

I missed this when it came out. It seems that Giuliani has implied that Trump is below average intelligence

Giuliani initially pushed back on the prediction that Trump would take center stage after the report drops. “I don’t think following his lead is the right thing. He’s the client,” he told me. “The more controlled a person is, the more intelligent they are, the more they can make the decision. But he’s just like every other client. He’s not more … you know, controlled than any other client. In fact, he’s a little less.”

A REAL scandal is the one sided coverage, hour by hour, of networks like NBC & Democrat spin machines like Saturday Night Live. It is all nothing less than unfair news coverage and Dem commercials. Should be tested in courts, can’t be legal? Only defame & belittle! Collusion?

I honestly had to check the link to see if this was The Onion. Yeah, screw that sitting around thinking about goodness and peace, a Real Christian(tm) should be learning to act like Trump!

I know he doesn't like reading, but it literally is the First Amendment. He could get that far, surely.

I still wonder if Donnie ever reads the replies to his Tweets. I wouldn't think so but he might, given the amount of time he seems to spend on Twitter. Because the responders usually wind up absolutely owning him. Example:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Remember, Michael Cohen only became a “Rat” after the FBI did something which was
absolutely unthinkable & unheard of until the Witch Hunt was illegally started. They
BROKE INTO AN ATTORNEY’S OFFICE! Why didn’t they break into the DNC to get the
Server, or Crooked’s office?

Dude, I know it’s Sunday and you like to chillax but put the bong DOWN!

Put the bong down. This is the President of the United States who is being addressed. And in a public venue. Our President!

Damn! :(

At the request of many, I will be reviewing the case of a “U.S. Military hero,” Major Matt Golsteyn, who is charged with murder. He could face the death penalty from our own government after he admitted to killing a Terrorist bomb maker while overseas. @PeteHegseth @FoxNews

Good summary of what this refers to:

The Donald cannot abide with the concept of the wheels of justice operating independently of his opinion, it appears.
