China just announced that their economy is growing much slower than anticipated because of our Trade War with them. They have just suspended U.S. Tariff Hikes. U.S. is doing very well. China wants to make a big and very comprehensive deal. It could happen, and rather soon!

That's generally an odds-on bet, but in this case he is correct. However, it's just an acknowledgement that China will abide by the 90-day trade war "cease fire" that was already announced.

GOP rep Mark Meadows, who is embedded so far up Trump's ass that it will take surgery to extract him, turned down Chief of Staff yesterday. Chris Christie turned it down today. It may actually come down to Jared!

Absolutely amazing! And it's gotten relatively little press.

At first I wondered if it might be just a satire, but I confirmed the switch at other news sites. I knew that there were Republicans with integrity; unfortunate that their very mortality and ethicals do not allow them to remain in the disgusting, slime-ridden morass that the Republican Party has become!

The recent history of the Republican Party is a very informative lesson for all: the more traditionally conservative pro-business, pro-wealth leaders of the party, beginning with Nixon, shamelessly played up to bigoted and racist voters, and to the religious right, just as a means to gain electoral victories. Frankly I doubt these Republican leaders believed much of that crap - it was simply to exploit these groups for votes. But like letting the camel into the tent, the latter took over the party, leading to the expulsion of traditional conservatives and the bat-crap crazy that now dominates the Party.
 
As the Trump shutdown looms, just think of the optics:

Trump is already booked at Mar a Lago over the holidays for a 16 day stretch. I have a hard time picturing him foregoing an extended golf hiatus, mindful of optics, and staying behind in that shabby old White House to hammer out a deal. This alone suggests a stopgap deal will be struck before vacation.

Every option reinforces Nancy and Chuck's ownership of him.

A lot of U.S. based companies are heavily invested in China. A bad Chinese economy is bad news for them.

I'm not surprised no-one wants the job. Would you want to take the wheel of a ship that's on a 30° list and 15° bow down while taking on water faster than the bilge pumps can pump it out?

These people have seen what has happened to other WH staff members in the last 600 or so days, I can perfectly understand why they don't want a bar of it. Is there anyone (other than the tea lady and members of Trump's own family) who was on the WH staff at the beginning of this presidency who is still there?

From what I can see, most of them are in jail, going to jail, likely to go to jail, have flipped and are working for the Feds or are under investigation by Federal agencies?

Kellyanne is still there and has been mentioned for the job. Sarah Sanders wasn't there at the beginning, but she seems secure now. The highest level of WH staff itself is really pretty small, but most of Trump's original cabinet picks are still in place.

It wouldn't surprise me if one of the retiring/defeated GOP congressmen takes COS. Some of them are fervent Trumpers, and they are all looking for work.

Worse than that! It's a given the new hire will need to retain a high price DC attorney the day they walk in the door.
