Then his lawyers lied to him. Anything can be an impeachable offense. He can be impeached for not ordering their prosecution.

Or did you mean likelihood of impeachment?

I meant it would have been an abuse of power and obstruction of justice.

Then someone should have mentioned that before now.

Because most normal people don't consider the odds of the House impeaching the President for not obstructing justice and abusing his power are worth mentioning. Nor do they consider it worth noting the possibility that the House will Impeach him for blowing his nose with a green handkerchief.

On "if it did happen, it wasn't a crime":

One rallying cry behind supporters of President Donald Trump when it comes to the Russia investigation is that even if there is evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, collusion itself is not a crime unless it was done through actions that were independently illegal. That means that if, for example, the Trump campaign was involved in the hacking of Democratic National Committee emails, that would be a problem because the hacking would be the illegal act. Merely talking to Russia or coordinating certain legal activities would not be a problem, the argument goes, because “collusion” itself is not illegal.

That last part may be true, but a recent opinion in case brought by Special Counsel Robert Mueller points out that there are situations where collusion in the form of even legal acts could still result in a criminal charge. Specifically, it’s the statute of Conspiracy to Defraud the United States.

“This court ruling should drive another nail in the coffin of the argument that collusion is not a crime. It clearly can be, and the crime is conspiracy – even if no other independent criminal violations are identified,” wrote Randall Eliason, a former federal prosecutor and lecturer at George Washington Law School. “Mueller’s use of that theory in his Russian social media indictment is a textbook example of a 371 conspiracy to defraud the U.S., and that theory has now been validated by the trial judge’s ruling.”

Linky.

Conservative writer and conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi is in plea negotiations with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, according to Corsi and another person with knowledge of the talks.

So looks as though Cortesi is yet another guy about to turn Joe Valachi....

The Trump meltdowns have only just begun.

If the source of the story is Corsi then let's wait until there's a little more information before deciding it's true, shall we?

There is not one iota, one scintilla of proof that I knew about the nicking of John Podesta's emails in advance or that Julian Assange would publish them.

Not one scintilla? I can't wait for this shoe to drop. I'm sure the ISF indictment counters share my excitement.

And in breaking Totally Not Surprising News, noted political whore Alan Dershowitz has said that the upcoming Mueller report will be devastating to Trump - - politically.

Gee, Donnie, ya should've hired him so he'd be out making crap up about the other side.

I think Dershowitz is still auditioning for a job. He goes on to parrot "collusion is not a crime" and say that there will be no indictments.

He also opines that the new slut in the AG office will perform the unprecedented move of getting the Mueller report released at the same time as the Denialist Doctrine is released by that doddering old fool, Giuliani and the Trump legal team.

Last we heard from the Mueller side, there's no date on the release of the report. I suspect he's walking a tightrope. Unless someone backs Trump up against the wall and he and Giuliani say they will not block the release or close the investigation, there are thirty-eight days before the Democratic House is sworn in, during which I'd expect people should be watching their backs. The lame duck GOP Congress can still create consternation and the "acting" AG can act at any time with no notice.

I think keeping an eye on Congress is easier. Just put a tracking device on smarmy Devin's car to make sure he's not carrying any documents over to the WH for a midnight screening. Whitaker's tougher to call. I can see him, particularly as he's getting hemmed in on several sides, falling on his sword for the boss and putting a kibosh on the Mueller investigations and then letting Donnie say "I had nothing to do with it; I don't interfere in cabinet decisions.'
