Trump's Education Department determined a company was cheating students, did nothing

The Trump Department of Education, still led by Betsy DeVos for some reason, continues to be extremely terrible at what they do. The latest wrinkle? The agency initiated an audit of student loan servicing company Navient after the company was accused in lawsuits brought by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and five individual states for steering student loan recipients in financial trouble to options that steeply increased the amount of money those students had to eventually repay. (The CFPB says that Navient reaped nearly $4 billion from the practice.) The Department of Education's own audit found that Navient likely did just that.

And in response to this conclusion, the DeVos-led department did ... nothing. They didn't just do nothing, they hid the findings from the plaintiffs suing Navient over those very practices.

I am sure they will look into this as quickly as possible and to make sure it never happens again they will close down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Justice Roberts can say what he wants, but the 9th Circuit is a complete & total disaster. It is out of control, has a horrible reputation, is overturned more than any Circuit in the Country, 79%, & is used to get an almost guaranteed result. Judges must not Legislate Security...

....and Safety at the Border, or anywhere else. They know nothing about it and are making our Country unsafe. Our great Law Enforcement professionals MUST BE ALLOWED TO DO THEIR JOB! If not there will be only bedlam, chaos, injury and death. We want the Constitution as written!

But the framers built institutions that are stronger than the people who run them. The people who recognized that these acts would be stopped by the other two branches and saw that it would damage the institution of the Executive.

When you look at that 79 percent number (which is wrong but doesn't matter), that's the number of cases that went to the Supreme Court that got overturned in a session. The Ninth circuit which is the largest and hears the most cases might have 12 of its decisions go to SCOTUS and get reversed on seven or eight. Judges in the 9th might hear 11,000 cases total in a year and might get overturned on seven or eight.

Didn't Trump once muse about raising the gas tax to pay for a small part of his tax cuts? Americans are so poor that they can't afford to raise taxes on gas. Just imagine if they had to pay over 3$ dollars in federal taxes per gallon.

He's right about the Mean and Nasty.You could end up in a Middle Eastern consulate and get dismembered, and the response from their most powerful ally would be "Nothing personal, just business."
