What negative reinforcement? They gave Trump a 30% chance of winning, and several times pointed out that he was less than the margin of error from victory - which is exactly what happened. They were less wrong than anyone else.
Sorry, poor choice or words,I think. I merely meant that some people were mad at 538 - properly or not -= and didn't want anything to do with their predictions in the future.

"Sorry Chief Justice John Roberts, but you do indeed have “Obama judges,” and they have a much different point of view than the people who are charged with the safety of our country. It would be great if the 9th Circuit was indeed an “independent judiciary,” but if it is why......"

".....are so many opposing view (on Border and Safety) cases filed there, and why are a vast number of those cases overturned. Please study the numbers, they are shocking. We need protection and security - these rulings are making our country unsafe! Very dangerous and unwise!"

The Orange One doesn't know what the judiciary is supposed to be independent from.

The Dems winning the house was ALL-important. I can't tell you the emotions I felt when the results on election night were becoming clear. The fear I wasn't allowing myself to feel before the results were clear had to be felt somewhat in order to feel the relief of having won the House.

The other thing it said is, in contrast to learning all the horrible realities about Trump supporters, we learned that there are even more (roughly) Americans who still understand what American democracy means (independent judiciary, free press, moral leadership from the president, etc.). Winning the House was no less heartening for its absolute necessity.

And yet, as an outsider looking in, I am absolutely horrified by how most results were in the 50 to 55% range for the winner.

How can there be so many still willing to vote Republican?

Ehhhh, he's just trying to get everyone to be talking about him at Thanksgiving dinner.

Huh. Pick a fight with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Brilliant!

BTW, I love the implication that Roberts doesn't know the review stats.

I've seen a few responses from Trumpanistas. One is that they are holding their nose in order to achieve some policy objectives. That reduces the most serious internal threat to American democracy since the Civil War to unpleasantness.

Presumably some of them aren't even holding their nose. Don't know what the proportion of Trump's ~42% support in general that population comprises.

Well, the surprising bit is we have a documented case of him telling the truth. When asked who should receive the honor, he said, “I can’t imagine anybody other than Trump.”

.......
The sad thing is how easy it would be to punk President Trump. It would be so much fun to send a film crew in with a Time editor and get the president’s reaction when told that not only is he the 2018 person of the year, but that the magazine is retiring the honor because no one will ever be as great as Donald Trump.

Trump doesn't get it about being Time Magazine's person of the Year. The award isn't necessarily an honor. It's about being newsworthy, which isn't always good.

There are more than a couple of people who were selected that are vilified today including Nixon, General Westmoreland, Ayatollah Khomeni, Stalin twice and Hitler. I'd add Kissinger given what I think of him after reading Hitchens book about him.

Trump has deserved this honor given that he is a LYING POS who belongs in prison, not the White House.

he probably daydreams about setting up a system of "People's Courts"..just like they had in Nazi Germany.

After all, Trumpy's hero, Andrew Jackson..probably, until now,the nearest the US has had to a dictator ("King Andrew the First" was a nickname) said

"Justice Marshall has made his decision. Let him enforce it".

I've often thought that the only president worse than Trump is Andrew Jackson. Of course, Trump's tenure isn't over.

There are a bunch of reasons. Few of them that are likely to be especially convincing you people like you or I.

"There are a lot of CRIMINALS in the Caravan. We will stop them. Catch and Detain! Judicial Activism, by people who know nothing about security and the safety of our citizens, is putting our country in great danger. Not good!"

“79% of these decisions have been overturned in the 9th Circuit.” @FoxNews A terrible, costly and dangerous disgrace. It has become a dumping ground for certain lawyers looking for easy wins and delays. Much talk over dividing up the 9th Circuit into 2 or 3 Circuits. Too big!

"AMERICA FIRST!"

"MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

If Trump got the title because he was a “ LYING POS who belongs in prison,” and he has lied a lot more since then, and we have discovered more reasons he belongs in jail, then shouldn’t he get the title again?

Joking aside, you are right. He will always look at it as an honor and never understand that it could be given to someone for profoundly negative influences on the US.

How exactly is splitting up the 9th circuit into 2 or 3 smaller circuits supposed to help?

You still have the same judges making rulings. Only now there are 2 different circuits containing judges that can make those rulings.

2 new circuits would be packed with new judges.

The Orange One doesn't know what the judiciary is supposed to be independent from.

It might be less a case of doesn’t-know and more a case of doesn’t-care.

Although I think the most accurate take would be that he believes an intelligent, perceptive, and independent judiciary would agree with all his positions, therefore if they disagree, then they are not being independent, but instead are blinded by a misplaced and disgraceful loyalty to his opponents.

And perhaps I am putting too fine a point on it, but I firmly believe that Trump’s position is that a truly independent judiciary would write commentary saying that Trump’s positions are the most Constitutional, most insightful, and most pro-American position ever stated by a president. But perhaps I am going too far, are there strong arguments against this belief?.

The dumb thing is that this case he is falling on his sword over is the most obvious case there is. The law is explicitly clear that asylum does not depend on where the person enters or where they are. It explicitly says that!

Bring it to the Supreme Court, moron. It won't even get reviewed, it is so blatantly obvious.

What, the same Supreme Court that the GOP just stacked with that loudmouth idiot who would happily hang anyone not as white and rich as he is?
