We do not have consensus. First, We might agree on them being totalitarian but unfortunately we are going to have to discuss what could pass for religion in China. But before we get there we are going to have to figure out why you think it is important to call them Marxist right up to the point where we want to look at why and then suddenly it is not important to you once we examine the nature of your claim.
What we seem to have here is sort of a Schrodinger's Marxist where it is and is not important at the same time. Of course if you want to consider what is true about the government in China we must figure out where we can agree. To get there we need to know why calling them Marxists is/was important to you so we can define our mutual terms.
So I ask you again, is the regime in China honest when they call themselves Marxist?
This is an honest question and I do expect an honest answer. Once we get you past that point we can then move on to the hard stuff. This is the easy question and it is not going away.
