Cont: The Trump Presidency X: 10-10 'til we do it again

It’s debrieding a wound. It hurts more than anything you’ve ever felt, but it is the only way healthy tissue can have a chance to reclaim the area.

I'm thrilled by the following three facts:

(1) Your views are held by a vanishingly small minority.
(2) You are not influential.
(3) You won't actually do a damned thing but talk.

Were any of these facts false, the world would be a worse place.

The U.S. is fundamentally broken.

A significant minority of the country has looked at Trump and the rest of the republicans (the party where the president regularly spouts racist rhetoric, and has children locked in cages) and said "Yes i want that". Despite Trump and the republicans not receiving a majority of votes in an election, and winning through a combination of voter supression, gerrymandering and Russian interference, they were willing to govern as if they actually had a popular mandate, cramming through laws and appointments (which often are not supported by the people) while shutting out the Democrats through dirty tricks.

Despite the fact that the republicans lost the house, they still have the senate and the presidency, and I believe they will continue to act in a repugnant manner. And, they will continue their actions to harm U.S. democratic institutions.

If you want 'healing' its not going to come from the republican side, the people who have worked the hardest to divide the country in the first place.

Right, so let's go for our guns? Seriously?

That's what autumn1971 suggested. You good with that?

Trump is now denying Jim Acosta access for laying hands on an innocent woman:

Sanders said in a statement the White House will “never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern. This conduct is absolutely unacceptable.”

“As a result of today’s incident, the White House is suspending the hard pass of the reporter involved until further notice,” Sanders said.

Linky.

I think this is the incident, she tries to take the microphone and he doesn't let go. I think his arm incidentally touches her arm?

Bizarre. Let's see how the accusation plays out.

People may try and stop you from ripping things out of their hands.

Word is that the FBI has the info stored in a place inaccessible to The PDJT's attempts to interfere.
Whose word?
You think Mueller is dumb enough not to do that?
Or are you just being a contrarian.
No one is talking about the possibility of Trump sezing the Mueller evidence. Stopping the investigation, yes but not that.

I feel confident that Mueller has taken steps to ensure the survival of the information his team has developed, but, yeah, I’d like to know “whose word” too. Even though I believe it.

It’s an absolute brazen lie. Acosta did nothing of the sort, and it’s on tape. Those gutless quislings had a young staffer come up and try to grab the microphone from a member of the White House Press Corps while he was asking a question.

They are barring him for two actual reasons:
1. They are cowards who can’t stand being held to account, and
2. This contemptible, un-American and anti-American act replenishes the well of derp and butthurt from which Trump and his contemptible enablers sustain themselves.

Jim Acosta was wrong. If my child was playing PS4 at someone's house, and the owner of the controller made a similar effort to take it back, I would reproach my child for resisting in that manner.

Invalid comparison. The microphone is ultimately owned by the public. It's not Donald Trump's property. It's not private property, like your neighbor's PS4.

It is Donald Trump's controller to administer as he sees fit. And it is a private party where people are there at the president's pleasure.

From the WHCA:

The White House Correspondent's Association issued a statement saying it "strongly objects to the Trump Administration's decision to use US Secret Service security credentials as a tool to punish a reporter with whom it has a difficult relationship. Revoking access to the White House complex is a reaction out of line to the purported offense and is unacceptable. ...We urge the White House to immediately reverse this weak and misguided action."

Is anyone surprised that Trump's new Attorney General is a scam artist?

Today President Donald Trump fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions and announced that his chief of staff, Matthew Whitaker, would become acting attorney general. Whitaker is a former U.S. attorney in Iowa, but he was also involved in a Miami-based invention-marketing company the Federal Trade Commission shut down last year after calling it a scam.

Whitaker not only sat on the board of World Patent Marketing but also sent a threatening email to a former customer who had complained after he spent thousands of dollars and did not receive the promised services. Court records obtained by New Times for a 2017 feature about the fraudulent company show that in one email to a disgruntled customer, Whitaker touted his background as a former federal attorney and declared that filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and "smearing" the company online could result in "serious civil and criminal consequences."

We've been told by Trump cultists that when he said "Rough him up!" that he was joking.
"I'll pay for your lawyer" ... more joking.
"I don't know anything about him [David Duke] " ... miscommunication.
"Some of them are good people" ... an innocent misunderstanding and/or "fake news", take your pick

What about at today's press conference when, in response to a question about inevitable forthcoming investigations as a result of the House playing its constitutional role in the US system of checks and balances, a highly agitated Trump responds with a blatant threat to use the Senate as a political weapon? A joke? Earpiece fell out?

Trump said:
But they can play that game, but we can play it better, because we have a thing called the United States Senate

This is one of the most egregious anti-democratic things this wannabe dictator has uttered, and that's saying something.

I wonder how long they've known each other or if they run in the same circles.

Looking at the link: Jesus H Christ, talking about flooding the swamp.
World Patent Marketing collected millions of dollars by promising starry-eyed inventors it would turn their inventions into best sellers. Company reps claimed invention ideas were reviewed by an illustrious board that included big names such as Whitaker, Republican Congressman Brian Mast, and time-travel scientist Ronald Mallett.
Mast denies involvement.

His replacement has long spoken out against Mueller's investigation, has said that if he were in charge he'd severely hamper it, and was allegedly described by Kelly as the White House's "eyes and ears" in the DoJ. I'd say it's probably safe to say that he's more likely to do what Trump wants re the Russia probe, not less.

yeah, but he has no clue yet what Mueller knows.
When he sees the evidence, he might think twice about ruining his career and possibly committing Obstruction.

You really need to stop drinking all that koolaid.

Varwoche is right. You know, that 'of the people, by the people, for the people' Gettysburg thing.
