It is fascinating trying to work out what is going on.

I've got some pretty conservative FB friends. One is going on that it is hypocritical to be supportive of Christine Blasey-Ford in her allegations against Brett Kavanaugh while being critical of this duo. I suppose that's the spin that will be put on this.

In Trumpland, conclusions have nothing to do with the evidence. It is solely a matter of dueling narratives. There's story A and story B. Comparing either story to reality is a waste of time.

You could try this angle

Christine Blasey Ford, who originally wished to remain anonymous, in the end came forward, and offered to testify before a bench of angry, misogynistic, old white men, because she felt it was her civic duty to do so. For her trouble, she was mercilessly mocked by Der Trumpenfuhrer, pilloried by his loyal followers, and to top it off, she and her family received death threats from his Stormtroopers base, that were considered by authorities to be credible enough that they were forced to move out of their homes. Ford is a very brave women.

Carolyne Cass (if that is even her real name), who originally wished to remain anonymous, baled before the press conference at the first sign of trouble, after allegedly receiving death threats (which is strange, because she was still anonymous at that time). By comparison with Christine Ford, this Carolyne Cass person (if she actually exists at all) is a rank coward.

I was feeling that might be an angle but watching the press conference there are earnest claims that seemed to contradict that idea. Might watch again for specifics but they would be putting a hell of a lot on the line for such a stunt.

Hanlon’s Razor may well apply.

I would keep a low profile, too, if I alleged someone assaulted me and I then found out they were in a different city on the date I specified.

There is no comparison at all between the two cases. The most recent is being driven in public by a pair of twits with a track record of dishonesty and stupidity.

Very true, but I was making a suggestion as to how crescent might approach this person. If someone really cannot see that these two cases are totally different, then taking your approach will never work. An approach where the superficial similarities are compared and debunked just might work.

I would too if I suddenly realized that $20,000 wasn't nearly enough to get involved in this ****. But maybe she's holding out for more.

Something worth bearing in mind - when Kavanaugh was accused of sexual assault, he and the Republican party did everything they could to prevent an investigation, and then everything they could to constrain the investigation that had been forced on them. When Mueller was accused of sexual assault, he turned over the information to the FBI so they could investigate and then got on with his job.

An excellent point. I'll make sure to point this out to trumpkins who try to deaw parallels between the two.

This speaks to character, temperament and trustworthiness. Mueller has all of these by the bucket-load; Kavanagh doesn't have any of them.

It also brings into sharp focus the fact that only one of them had something to hide... and it wasn't Mueller!

Its a Cargo Cult attempt at a scandal. Put out things that look the same and make the same noises. Then be surprised when the scandal doesn’t develop.

Never attribute to masochistic performance art that which can adequately be explained by colossal amounts of stupidity.

I'm starting to think that the old maxim is not that correct; that you can and should sometimes attribute to malice that which otherwise could adequately be explained by stupidity, incompetence or ignorance.
