In just two years, the Trump administration has undone most of the work (in progress to be sure) since World War 2, to create a fair and just society. They have wound race relations back to the 1960s, human rights back to the 1950's, and immigration back to the 1940s with their concentration camps near the southern border. That the Trump base is all just fine with this tells the world that racism and bigotry is alive and well in the US of A.

This will take a long, long time to repair.

Rush Limbaugh tried to deny Sayoc was a Trump follower by claiming that the stickers on his van were too straight and new looking.

Initially. Then come the "men of holy/true conviction" who do the real damage. Big Truth always carries the same club Ugluk used in every sorry cave across human history. Today's cave trolls are having a field day capturing the weak minds and vacant souls of what is, very kindly, called the "political right." More like the raw savagery of amoral expediency in service of base appetite.

A few more details starting to come out about Cesar Sayoc. He was apparently a victim of the foreclosure spree/robosigning fraud in 2009, which left him pretty much destitute (court documents lists no assets and $50 worth of clothes).

Some arguments are being made, that the inability/unvillingness of the then Democratic government to deal with the robosigning fraud in a meaningful way, might have tipped him over the edge, especially when Trump then appeared on the scene a few years later, railing against the Washington establishment.

I saw someone denying that he could be a Trump supporter, because why would someone who was mailing bombs to people advertise his political affiliation?

My suggestion would be that perhaps someone who posts bombs to people isn't the clearest thinker. I'm sure that it all being a false flag that's been prepared for with Sayoc playing a role for years is the more parsimonious explanation.
 
Apparently Sayoc has a daddy fixation with Trump. I think that's true of a lot of Trump cultists.

is utter bollocks. Our car sits in the Greek sun and has stickers that have lasted years. The one that tells you the official petrol consumption figures has faded quite a lot, it's true, but it's been there for nearly 20 years.
 
This guy was a living and breathing red flag.

Gureghian, the general manager of New River Pizza and Fresh Kitchen, said that Sayoc worked as a delivery-truck driver for several months but quit in January. The white van he drove to deliver pizzas was covered in disturbing images, she said, so the restaurant required him to park it on the side where it could not be seen.

“It was puppets with their heads cut off, mannequins with their heads cut off, Ku Klux Klan, a black person being hung, anti-gay symbols, torchings, bombings, you name it, it was all over his truck,” Gureghian said.

Sayoc was kept on because he did his work reliably and good drivers are hard to find, she said. But he disturbed his co-workers with racist comments and texts, she said.

“He was very angry and angry at the world, at blacks, Jews, gays,” she said. “He always talked about ‘if I had complete autonomy none of these gays or these blacks would survive.’ . . . He was very, very strange.”

“He would categorize himself as a white supremacist," she said. "He would just say, ‘Take back the world. That’s what he would always say, ‘Take back the world.’ ”

Wow. 555 chip, 1 resistor, 1 capacitor and rudimentary soldering makes a timer circuit. How are you unaware of such rudimentary electronics 101?

With those three components and a battery, you are done. Those numeric countdown numbers, those are an invention of Hollywood for dramatic effect.

ETA: also deployed by terrorists to distract LE from how the actual bomb works. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.
