Would that tiny bit farther be to the point where I said she should not have released the results of a DNA test to the public because that's private information that no one has the right to demand?

That wouldn't be a bad place to go, but that's not what I had in mind. You said, "WHY THE HELL IS ANCESTRY ANY REASON TO EVEN ATTEMPT TO DESTROY A PERSON OVER? " You are absolutely right.

However, it is also no reason to laud a person of a given ancestry.

Elizabeth Warren was part of a culture, that she helped to create and helps to perpetuate, that celebrates "diversity". I'm not talking the Cherokee culture, but rather the Harvard elite culture. They think it is an accomplishment for a "woman of color" to become a law professor. They laud it in their newsletters. When that "woman of color" sure looks like a paleface to everyone who sees her, it becomes kind of comical. When that paleface trots out tests to prove that she really does have 0.39% ancestry of color, it becomes fodder for further ridicule.

You know there's no evidence that humans used the land bridge to cross, right?

Well, there is actually DNA evidence that traces Native American ancestry northwards and westward through Alaska and Siberia at least as far west as as the Caucasus region near what is now known as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and South West Russia.

That places people at around 20,000 to 14,000 years ago on both sides of what is now the Bering Strait, and since we know for a fact that the Beringian land bridge existed at that time, the evidence that the ancestors of all Amerinds in North, Central and South America entered the continent across that land bridge is overwhelming.

... did anyone actually think she was a "woman of color"? This might be the dumbest **** ever in politics, and given where we are, that is really saying something.

That's nice and all for Harvard, but what's the Republican stake in it? Why did Scott Brown think that digging into her Harvard bio would garner himself more votes and smear his opponent? You can claim it's all about Harvard, but the fact remains you would not have even heard of it if people who wanted to harm her hadn't put it before you. Judging by appearance? really? When your likely exposures to Native Americans are to extreme stereotypes and Italians painted darker?

It is dumb, but it is also hilarious. The whole thing.

I hate, hate Trump but he is truly "WINNING" this thing with Warren.

How on earth could she possibly have thought this was going to work out in her favor?

Exactly. For a time in her life she identified herself as a minority, specifically Cherokee. This status was promoted by the institutions that employed her to tout their diversity. She is not Cherokee; she has an ancestor generations back that may have been. She should have just left well enough alone.

Because not doing it had worked so well for the last six years of constant Fauxcahontas comments.

Calling yourself Cherokee (or of Cherokee decent) does not make you a member of a tribe.

Putting a recipe in a book does not qualify as a Federal application for NA minority status.

Right, and that is the entire point. "She claimed" to be Cherokee. Also there's this.

That can just as easily be used against me, I claimed NA ancestry around college time based on family lore as well. So, as I should have just left well enough alone, what can I do now to leave well enough alone?

I'm guessing he welches on his bet.. So maybe some of his followers draw the line on someone who doesn't pay up on lost wagers? Hahah.. right.

I guess claiming you're an indian when you're not one probably just isn't a real good idea then.

Pogue mahone, I'm Irish. Tons of people claim they're Irish when they're American, and may even have less Irish in their ancestry than Warren has NA. Why do they get a pass and she doesn't?

Also, I thought I was. Maybe so did she. What of it?

Who cares? Watching the usual suspects get Bitch Slapped in this thread makes it all worthwhile. Truly hilarious.

It's hilarious. I already said that. She's clearly a white lady to anyone with eyes.

I must bow to your extensive experience with Native Americans, from the ones who look white to the racial stereotypes and Italians painted darker. Clearly you can discern between ancestries with a practiced eye.

Or in other words, pretend I don't see a white lady when one stands in front of me?

Trump comes out tomorrow and claims he's chinese and you're going to believe him, right?

Amazing how a longtime ago claim (that many Americans have made) that has now been backed up in this case by DNA evidence bears as much weight to you as a hypothetical future claim.

Sagan had a scale for this with the claims of having 10 lbs of salt, 10 lbs of lead, or 10 lbs of plutonium in your house. Claiming NA ancestors is well into the salt level.

In Oklahoma, it's like claiming to have a pound of sugar.
