The point of this thread is twofold:

Firstly a sort of false equivalence - we get a lot of talk about poor behaviour on the part of US officers. I think some US posters take that as an attack on the US in general. I think they believe that the US is just being picked on and officers are guilty of the same poor behaviour the world over. Therefore this thread.

No. It's not a "my feelings are hurt" argument. You people keep saying I don't know anything about the UK. Well, switching countries, we feel the exact way about you--if not more strongly.

However the most important aspect of the thread, for those that are driving it, is as a tool for wind up merchants. You can tell from the way any questions that would conclusively give the lie to their position are studiously ignored until they go away.
