Lessons to be learned from the Kavanaugh Hearing

And no lessons were learned.

Sure there were. The character assassination of Kavanagh should have started the day of his nomination, or as close to it as possible. Holding the material in reserve for rebuttal was never going to work with Republicans in the Senate not caring if he'd ever tried to rape anyone. There should have been a cloud and constant drip of allegations from nomination to the floor vote.

Yes and where in the Oregon Revised Statutes does it say the penalty for violating that section of traffic law death by vigilante justice?

No it says "you must submit to the leftist mob, and don't worry about your well being or your families. They can do what they want lawlessly and intimidate and bully you all they like. HAHA"

I've tried to warn the moderates on the left, if you continue to support these antics, it will one day be reciprocated in a way the left is not happy about.

I'll give you credit for one thing. You recognize that the approach used didn't work. That's good.

Your solution, though, doesn't sit well with me. In my opinion, less character assassination would have been a better approach. But, it's hard to know what will play well at the polls.

River, at what point after conservatives came out in support of violent revolt did they decide to start pretending they cared about law and order again?

I mean really, the hypocrisy is off-the-meter.

We're supposed to get our undies in a bunch because supposedly a daytime talk show failed to criticize Antifa.

Whereas on multiple occasions, the wannabe dictator who is the President has unambiguously encouraged violence against political protesters who were behaving lawfully.

I'm going to cut River some slack and assume he recently came out of a 10-year coma and doesn't realize from what a disingenuous and ludicrous position he's arguing.

Have you ever been anywhere near Antifa mobs wearing a Trump hat? Do you want to see what happens? (try youtube)

The blind leading the blind... either the left is completely oblivious, or complicit. Make your choice.

Do you only support Trump when you wear a hat? Has every single person who wore a MAGA hat by an Antifa group been beaten?

Blanket statement.

...and I am not "the left"

I'm still trying to get an answer from our Trump supporters:

What exactly would Trump have to do for you to no longer support him?

Being accused of sexual assault by well over a dozen women hasn't worked. Nor has admitting he thinks he can do whatever he wants to women because he's a celebrity, nor calling women disgusting names, nor calling for violence against protesters at his rallies, nor calling the media the "enemy of the people", nor his childish and disgusting bullying and name-calling, nor his believing Putin over our own intelligence agencies, nor lying about Stormy Daniels, nor lying about the Trump Tower meeting, nor lying about so many things over and over and over and over......

At this point, his supporters are dug in so deep that they cannot possibly see him for what he is because it would mean having to admit they drank the Kool Aid. And. They. Just. Cannot. Do. That.

I'm not exactly a Trump supporter, but I'm also not a hater. I voted for him because HRC was a much worse choice for this country. I would disavow Trump if he were to embrace the democrats and DNC agenda. Also, he could be convicted of a felony. I've said many times whoever is found guilty of crimes should do the time regardless of partisanship. Remember that when we see some of the former Obama officials face what they've done. I'd actually prefer a different GOP leader in office, but it just so happens Trump won the election. He's brash, and narcissistic but he's doing some good things for this country. (opinions vary -- usually by partisanship)

"I voted for him because HRC was a much worse choice for this country."

I could not disagree more.

So it would take Trump embracing the Dem agenda or being convicted of a felony for you to disavow him. Hmmmmm...

The first is never going to happen and you know it. The second may well happen unless, of course, the whole "can't charge a sitting president" comes into play.
How about this: Mueller finds serious proof that Trump lied about his knowledge of Trump Tower meeting and that he approved of Sonny and Manafort meeting with the Russian lawyer to discuss "dirt on Clinton". And/or that Trump cheated on his taxes, and/or laundered money, and/or any other illegalities? Or attempted to obstruct the investigation? Or perjured himself? You would still support him unless he's actually convicted even though the chances of it ever going to court are slim to nothing before he's out of office?

So the continual lying over and over and over to the American people and all the rest I noted above mean absolutely nothing to you as long as he's not a Dem or a convicted felon. Do I have that right?

If Trump was only guilty of half of what democrats claim, I'd disavow. I get it, you hate the man, and his agendas as President. Guess what? He's doing an excellent job. I hope he continues.

I heard he had a new band going. #MAGA

Nice evasion of answering my question. Noted. It's also noted that you don't mind his continual lies to the American people, his disgusting personal attitude and actions toward women, etc as long as he gives you want you want. Got it.

And you're right. I hate the man. I think he's a disgusting, lying pig of a man whom I'd detest if he were a Democrat. If he'd run as a Dem, I would not have voted for him.

Got it.

I don't mind you having a hateful opinion of Trump one bit. I hope you don't mind if I don't hate him but find him brash and narcissistic. I fixed your above.

If you are going to change what I said, please use the strikeout and not just italics in order to let people know what I actually said and what you said.

"his being accused of continual lies by liberals"

Um. No. His lies are well documented and proved lies by Politifacts and FactCheck both of which are non-partisan. I could mention the Washington Post but you'd just claim they are biased even thought they back up their lie evaluations with facts, not allegations.

" makes the country a better place for all Americans"

You don't speak for all Americans. You like his policies. He doesn't make it better for me as I don't like his policies, his divisiveness, his lying, his misogyny, or his bullying. And neither do the majority of Americans.

You've just admitted that you will put up with anything from Trump as long as he does things that you like. You don't care that he's a lying, bullying, sexist, amoral, self-serving scumbag as long as he gives you a tax break, tries to keep Muslims out of the country, gets rid of DACA, throws hundreds of thousands of people off health insurance, and gets an extreme conservative on the SC. Got it.
