New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

Just a reminder: Otter, from Animal House, was NOT a "good guy."

He was an evil creep. Complete slime.

Not someone who should be approved for the supreme court.

Possibly.

Now you're just lying to yourself. Either that or you don't know that many people.

The number of alcoholics out there is staggering. I don't have to leave my own family to find high functioning alcoholics. I knew guys in college who partied and were drunk a lot who barely touch the stuff today. And I know guys from that time who barely slowed down and yet still manage to have a job and a family. They would never say they were alcoholics, but some of them surely are.

Now I fully admit that in fact I don't know that Kavanaugh is an alcoholic. He probably isn't.
(Bet you didn't think I would say that.) Nevertheless, after listening to his testimony where he seem to profess his love for beer a little too enthusiastically, it wouldn't shock me that he could be a high functioning alcoholic.

Ok, so I was exaggerating for effect. Obviously, "everyone I know" wasn't a drunk in high school, and they don't all have the same attitude toward beer today.

The point, though, is that it is normal. I do know plenty of people who used to drink a lot, and who look back befuddled but fondly on those days, even though they know that it was really stupid and they would never do it again. I myself quite literally sing the praises of beer and other alcohol on a regular basis. (i.e. I sing drinking songs).

Does he have a drinking problem today? There's no reason to believe he does. Any talk about it is just a willingness to believe the worst about someone because he's "on the other side".

(And you know what's even better than beer? Mead!)

I actually went the other way: Super straight-edge all through high school. No drugs, no alcohol, no sex... It wasn't even clear to me how to go about doing those things, so I basically just threw it all on a back burner to examine at some point in the future, after I'd figured out what I thought were the more pressing issues in my life. Wasn't till my mid-20s that I got laid for the first time, got drunk for the first time, got high for the first time.

Me either until early college. Living in a fraternity does that.

Still no drugs though. Makes going to many concerts a social challenge, especially Dead related ones like Dead & Co

Remember when Ford said that her friend Leland was having health problems and had apologized for her denial?

Now we know that ex-FBI officer and Ford ally Monica McLean pressured Leland to “clarify” her statement.

Seems like Ford and her gang might be subject to some scrutiny going forward.

I'm sad to see Manchin and Collins put getting re-elected and party (respectively) before country.

Once again, Trump manages to divide the country even more by choosing a judge that he thinks will benefit him personally over choosing one that would be acceptable to both parties. Can't say I'm surprised.

But we don't know that, do we?
“Any notion or claim that Ms. McLean pressured Leland Keyser to alter Ms. Keyser’s account of what she recalled concerning the alleged incident between Dr. Ford and Brett Kavanaugh is absolutely false,” McLean’s attorney, David Laufman, said in a statement.
