I don't suppose any of you think the FBI should look into Ford at all, am I right?

??? She's core to the investigation. How would they not look into her?

The catch is - she's not running for anything, not seeking an appointment.

But if she perjured herself, then that's a thing. If they have enough evidence to press charges for that, then that happens.

But they would need a lower standard of evidence (one at all really) of showing that Kavanaugh lied enough to convince senators not to approve him.

Keep in mind that this "FBI Investigation" is just a resumption/continuation of Kavanaugh's background check. It's not a criminal investigation.

Ah, a typo.

Of course they should look into Ford. Just as she asked them to.

And how would you suggest the FBI conduct an investigation without looking into Ford? Can you show where anyone in this thread has suggested she shouldn't be looked into?

And she has said under oath that she welcomes an FBI investigation. Unlike one of the other people who testified that day.

Sir drinks-a-lot, is your question now answered to your satisfaction?

You're reading more into it than is there out of desperation. They got the permits in 2008. That doesn't mean they began remodeling right away. 2008 could also mean Dec. 2008. Ford said the "Extensive remodeling" was completed in 2012. Some remodeling can take a year or more depending on how much is being done and if they took periods off in-between projects.

Try again.

Yeah, you are probably right. I mean she had already gone 26 years without having an escape door. So waiting another 4 years is really not that big a deal.

I blame Star Wars.

When did anger become a bad thing? It's "the dark side" these days. Let's see. He is being publicly accused of sexual assault, indecent exposure, and serial rape. And he's being questioned about drinking habits from over 30 years ago. Let's see how he reacts. Oh....he's angry. It must be true then.

WTF?

Yeah, strawmen are confusing.

What I don't get is why the Republicans are protecting this turd. Are you telling me they cant find some other person who will side with the rich over everyday people who isn't a hateful sexist pig?

But firstly, he isn't being accused by the Senate Committee. The accusation has been made by a third party, a private individual. The committee was doing no more and no less than its duty to question Kavanaugh about the accusation, since if it were true it would necessarily disqualify him from taking up the SC appointment.

And secondly, Kavanaugh displayed far more than simply "anger" on Thursday. Rather, he displayed a snarling, belligerent "how dare you" brand of self-righteous entitlement. And he artfully managed to alternate between that and maudlin appeals to emotion with his carefully-constructed tales of his diligence, things he learned at the knee of his father, and how his young daughter prayed for his accuser - complete with extravagant throat-catching, blinking, sniffling and pauses for water.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Funny, I don’t recall Obama losing his **** over having his legitimacy as a president and American citizen constantly questioned by the conspiracy theorist who has his old job. Nor did Hillary Clinton lose hers over the same conspiracy theorist endlessly accusing her of criminality and leading gleeful chants of “Lock her up!” with throngs of the same hypocrites now pretending they care about due process.

And if either of them had lost their **** the way Kavanaugh and Graham did? Fox News would have spun off a new channel dedicated to the sole purpose of deriding them as having temperaments unfit for high office.

This.

The PDJT re: Ford -- "She was very credible."
The PDJT re: Kavanaugh -- "He gave incredible testimony."

Kavanaugh isn't being sacrificed. That's hyperbole. And his possible rejection isn't being done for expediency. He simply doesn't have the stuff to be a Supreme Court Justice.

You don't understand. It's all about entitlement. Kavavaugh, as has been true his whole life, believes he is entitled to special treatment. He's been an entitled little prick hus whole life. He is entitled to being on the SC, and if you don't put him on, it's an attack.

"Not being selected to the supreme court" being a sacrifice is the epitome of privilege

Remember how they totally destroyed Merrick Garland's life? Me neither.

At worst, Cavanaugh gets his life ruined the same way.

The sort of ruination that involves not dying; not being injured; not going to jail; not facing civil suits; not losing your job, your house, or your marriage; and staying in a nice house with a well-above median income in a very stable line of work.

He just doesn't get a promotion.

I get you're point now. But only a privileged prick could consider that he is being 'sacrificed'.

Sacrificed for expediency is what happens in courtrooms all over the country where people plead guilty simply because they don't have the resources to get a fair hearing or trial or just to get out of jail because they dont have the money for bail.

Julie Swetnick faced misconduct allegations at Portland company

Julie Swetnick, one of the women accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, faced allegations of her own misconduct during a short stint at a Portland tech company 18 years ago.

Swetnick worked at Portland-based Webtrends for a few months in 2000, according to a civil suit the Portland company filed against her late that year. The company said she was hired as a professional services engineer to work off-site.

The suit alleged Swetnick "engaged in unwelcome, sexually offensive conduct" while at Webtrends and "made false and retaliatory allegations that other co-workers had engaged in inappropriate conduct toward her."

Michael Avenatti, the creepy porn lawyer, called the allegations against his client "completely bogus."

On these two points . . .

How would you feel in his position? Let's for a moment give him the benefit of the doubt (I know; it's difficult) and the presumption of innocence. If he did not do the things he has been accused of, I can understand the anger and lack of emotional control. These kinds of accusations are extremely serious and can wreak havoc with his family, friends, current position, public perception, etc.

I can only say that if I were in his shoes, I might lose it too. I don't think we should demand that our SCOTUS judges be robots.

Here, I find more agreement with you.
I don't think that he should be a robot, but his dismissal of the allegations as a partisan smear having to do with the Clintons is troubling for a justice.

Even if he is innocent I can't support him as a nominee for the Supreme Court after that performance. That diatribe totally fixed my opinion. (I was already learning against, but not with certainty. )

And what is it with "I believe her because she sounded sincere?" That isn't even as reliable as a polygraph.

Well, the FBI investigation will happen, so we'll get some more information. Will it be anything besides gossip. Be careful what you wish for, Democratic senators.

One source I hope gets questioned is the therapist. She wrote in her notes that Ms. Ford was attacked by four guys. Ms. Ford said the therapist made a mistake. I wonder if that's true. Was it a passing comment, where the mistake would be understandable, or did they discuss it at length? That's a pretty big difference.

I feel sorry for the people who will have to be bothered by questions about their party experiences 35 years ago. I hope their statements will be confidential, because if not then they'll be subject to extreme scrutiny by amateur "researchers" for decades to come.

Oh, well. Stay tuned. My prediction: The investigation will turn up no evidence of sexual assault, but neither will it clear Kavanaugh. (How could it?) So, Democrats will say that he shouldn't be confirmed because there is a cloud of suspicion over him, and besides he lied about drinking in high school.
Lied under oath, you mean? But no matter, sometimes that's okay for a judge?

It's actually sad that you people think any of this makes Kavanaugh look good.

I know that you're trying to move the narrative away from Kavanaugh's past, but in order for that to work, you must first appear to be the distracted person. That's the kind of thing that stupid people fall for. If you want to look like an idiot, keep it up. The rest of us can focus on the important issues without your input.
