You guys need a complete change of your governmental system. It's messed up. Time to build some barricades.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
She continued to attend parties but that does not mean the person who raped her was there. She made sure that she did not drink from the punch bowl (as she stated) and was likely vigilant in keeping her drinks with her at all times.

When I was attacked, I did not stop going to discos. I just made sure never to walk to my car alone again. I would always have someone walk me to my car. Life goes on.

Apparently, any woman who tries to get on with their life and put it behind them rather than withdrawing from society and hieing themselves directly to a nunnery is lying.

Just saw Lindsey Grahams tantrum. That was disgusting in the context of what we saw during the testimonies. Kavanaugh's conspiracy theorizing was equally disgusting. Confirming this man would really sow the wind the Judge was talking about.

None of the GOP senators in that room deserve to represent anyone. The people who support and cheer on the nomination can hardly be described as human beings.

And here I thought Kavanaugh was in high standing with the Association of Bars.

:D

I watched most of Ford's testimony but missed all of Bart's, which is a pity, although I would not have enjoyed watching the senators do their song and dance. I didn't enjoy the democrats doing that either. Kamala Harris was particularly drawn out and repetitive. If she has designs on higher office, i fear for her success.

Now, even if Bart is confirmed, surely these allegations don't just go away. It seems likely to me that although (per Bob Corker) no corroborating evidence to Ford's has been presented, there's a fairly good chance that something concrete will come to light later.

Can a sitting SC justice be removed on criminal grounds? Would that not be exponentially worse for trump and the GOP than withdrawing him and finding another Gorsuch?

It's interesting I've only been following this process via threads here and an occasional print article. But yesterday for the first time I watched part of his ..er... statement? Based just on how he made that statement I wouldn't have thought anyone would want him as a senior judge who is expected to be impartial and rational, simply because he appeared to be politically partial and he was anything but putting forward rational and factually based arguments. So whether there is any credence in what he is accused of would be an irrelevance to me in deciding he isn't up to the job.

That was my reaction exactly.

"Shame on you for being raped!" is something I expect to hear in some theocratic islamic 'republic'. Hell, I almost expected the GOP yesterday to accuse her of assaulting him.

I don't know if the man's guilty, but his character, now broadcast for all to see, isn't fit for SCOTUS. Now imagine him drunk. Do you think he'd be even _more_ aggressive and unpleasant if you add liberal (pun intended) doses of alcohol?

Really, Mead, wtf, man?

Do you think you would have this much trouble passing this sort of clearance? Honest question.

Yes.

I shouldn't, but absolutely I would. If everyone involved told the truth about me? There would be a whole lot of embarrassing things that came out, and there would be a whole lot of things that holier-than-thou jerks would distort and exaggerate, and would declare made me unfit for office.

And that's if everyone told the truth about me.
