Trump can feel that he doesn't belong to the Big Boys and Girls club: remember the NATO summit where they essentially let him sit at the kiddie table while they talked real shop?
I think Trump's had that kind of feeling since his (expensive) schooldays. He's never been accepted by elites - not the popular kids, nor the business elite, New York society, the US political elite, and now he's looked down on by the global elite. It's the foundation of his character.

Trump tweets

"China is actually placing propaganda ads in the Des Moines Register and other papers, made to look like news. That’s because we are beating them on Trade, opening markets, and the farmers will make a fortune when this is over!"

President Trump’s United Nations speech today is a remarkable outline of the power of patriotism, the importance of national identity, the dangers of globalism, the need to reform the United Nations, and American leadership. An extraordinary achievement. Worth reading."

Seems to be suggestions growing amongst the Trumpsters to throw the UN out of the USA as retaliation for laughing at Trump.

This @realDonaldTrump speech to the #UNGA should be required viewing in American high schools. A beautiful articulation of Americanism and rejection of globalism. – at United Nations"

Upside in losing reserve currency status is devaluation and an export boom. Downside is inflation, and eventually needing to borrow on international markets in other currencies, which, unlike dollars, can bite the US hard with debt revaluations.

Long-term, keeping up militarily without dependence on foreign-denominated capital could require stripping everything else out of the budget. Circa 2040: Homeless, with nukes.

By winning such battles, Trump's losing the war.

:eye-poppi

I'm speechless.

Newt got one thing right: recommend the written version.

How delicious to see The PDJT actually cringe and look sheepish up there on the world's stage.
Lots of crossed fingers among his handlers before they let him do it, I imagine.

"Now, remember, cooperation, respect for other leaders, and no mentions of grabbing pussy. If you're good, we'll get you that ice cream you wanted".

Yes. The year I worked on the census, I was part of an unusual search for people that began about miidnght and lasted through dawn. It include known homeless emcmpments, the homeless shelters, etc. One of the fun parts was a local small park known locally as "Needle Park". Figuring out why it has that nickname is left as an exercise for the reader.

Not too hard to figure out since it was the name of an Al Pacino movie from the 70s (Panic in Needle Park).

A reminder of Gingrich's idea of epic prose.

Thanks to Trump and his supporters, we are the world’s laughing stock.
When I think of the US today, I get this picture in my head of a good family with a father that just happens to be a mentally unstable drunkard.

Kick out the drunkard, and it'll be a normal family again.

You probably think you're joking, but on 4chan and r/the_donald Trump's nickname is "GEOTUS", which stands for "God Emperor Of The United States". There are Russian propaganda sites with urls like geotus.army.

The more extreme of his fanbase really do believe he was appointed by God.
Sounds more like a joke to me, refering to 40K and Dune.
You don't even have to go out on the extremes, a lot of ordinary republican voters are echoing the sentiment, that Trump is such a toxic character with so much baggage, that his surprising victory could only be explained by divine intervention.

As for the likes of 4chan (aren't they on 8chan these days?) and the_donald, is that it's Poe's law taken to the extreme. It's impossible to tell who's actually serious about it and who's just parroting it for the lulz.

or satanic.

If you are into Biblical Endtime Stories, Trump ticks far more boxes on the side of the Anti-Christ than the original.

Dear Leader is holding a lengthy press conference now at which he is nearly incomprehensible. Among his claims: Obama would have gone to war with North Korea and only Trump saved the world, and that a China scholar has claimed Trump has a "very very large brain." The factcheckers will be busy for days.

I've been watching it.

I can't help but laugh because every single question that gets asked, he gets talking, his mouth gets flying off into left field, and then within seconds he automatically and naturally veers off into bragging about himself and all his amazing accomplishments. Ultimately never quite fully answering the journalist's original question.

After watching this, I think I'm going to need a Zoloft-Valium Cocktail (shaken not stirred) to rest my poor frazzled brain.

The claim that Obama was about to go to war with North Korea was pretty crazy.

I think he might have said something like Obama had his “finger on the button” or something like that.
