That's too bad you don't find it shocking. I bet you would if it was your daughter. Also, My late teen and early twenties years were pretty wild as I performed in several bands. If someone I knew was drugging women and raping them they would not only get their ass kicked, they'd be lucky to make it to jail.

Exactly. So would most people. It didn't happen. We're in Jackie-land.

Its odd. I went to a small Jesuit High School and there were some real stand out guys in my class. Good guys that you could tell would turn into great men in their respective fields. And there were some real *****. Guys that you would walk out of a good party if you saw they were there. Guys that had a cloud of trouble follow them no matter where they went, but kept out of trouble by their family connections. I know of crimes these people committed, in fact I witnessed some of them.

I'd never come out against one of the later if he were up for promotion to run a major business or even just running for city council. Whatever, some people like jerks and that is fine. But if one of those ******** was running for governor, senate, president, or being nommed for the supreme court, yeah I'd have to think about it.

I don't see why I should assume a woman who was attacked by a person in high school would not think about it the same way I would.

Remember, we are taking the 80's here.
Rape cases were rarely brought to court.

It is perfectly understandable that a women or others wouldn't put their word against an entire group of boys who would all give each other an alibi.

So this argument is plain BS.

If you try, you might find allegations that are even more poorly supported:

"Thomas" also went on to describe the are where they grew up in Montgomery Village, "Quite a distance from Bethesda" and that the "Social circles" would not have interacted. He refutes that during High School "No way that she would have encountered these same social circles, certainly not during High School."

He did say the information he received was "Second hand," as it came from family members, but, he also offered details of the Swetnicks and his own family that lend credence to his story.

You can hear "Thomas in Boston" below:

You'll have to work at it, though. Some fellow calling in to a right-wing talk radio show vs. sworn testimony from a person with government security clearance.

Christine Blasey Ford has faced similar levels of rumor mongering. Snopes has covered five of them so far:

Is This a Photograph of Christine Blasey Ford with George Soros?

Did Christine Blasey Ford Make a Sexual Assault Accusation Against Neil Gorsuch?

Is This a Photograph of Christine Blasey Ford Partying?

Is This a Photograph of Christine Blasey Ford Holding a ‘Not My President’ Sign?

Did Judge Martha Kavanaugh ‘Rule Against’ the Parents of Her Son’s Accuser, Christine Blasey-Ford?

All provably false.

Snopes has one writeup breaking down a false accusation against Deborah Ramirez as well:

Does Kavanaugh Accuser Deborah Ramirez Have ‘Ties to George Soros’?

Now it is Julie Swetnick's turn. All the nutheads and CT loons will go into overdrive to make up stories about her.

Let "Thomas in Boston" come forward. Otherwise he's just another anonymous CT nuthead spouting nonsense. They come out of the woodwork for this sort of thing.

Speaking of being under a rock, is there anyone else here for whom the word "incel" appears to be something brand new and never before heard? Because seriously, today it the first I've seen or heard it.

Yep. I had no idea what "incel" meant. I had to look it up.

Frankly, I was surprised at all the hoopla regarding River's use of "female". As a woman, I had no problem with how he used it. I saw no underlying or disrespectful meaning by his use of it. I don't think River had any knowledge of the Incel movement so I think there was an overreaction to it.

I've used "female" in place of "woman/women" on lots of occasions such as "I'd like to see at least 2 more females on the SC."

IMO, much do about nothing.

Swetnick is some sort of low level person who needs access to buildings to do a job, I think. Not really the "security clearance" you think of when you hear the term. IIRC, she's a temp or something like that. I think I read that somewhere.

Of course Kavanaugh has passed many FBI background checks, but that gets dismissed.

Right, just rumors.

Is his college roomate statement just a rumor ? Really ?

https://twitter.com/PeterKauffmann/status/1044384650767020033

Are the statements of the other people in college and high school who claim they drank with Kavanaugh just rumors too ?

I'll bet it turns out the FBI did go back to his college years and look around.

Has anyone asked the FBI if they did that during one of the background checks?

How do you intend on settling that bet ? You think the FBI is going to release an exhaustive list of their background checks in this case ?

This from her sworn statement

I presently hold the following active clearances associated-with working Within the federal government: Public Trust - US. Department of Treasury (DOT), US. Mint (USM), Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

4. I have also previously held the following inactive clearances: Secret US. Department of State (DOS), US. Department of Justice (DOJ) and Public Trust - US. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

5. My prior employment includes working with Vietnam War Commemoration (VWC), Joint Services Providers (J SP), US. Department of Defense (DOD) in Arlington, Virginia; US Mint, US. Department of Treasury; U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS), US. Department of Treasury; Government Affairs and Communications Department, DC. Department of General Services (DGS), Government of the District of Columbia Customs and Border Protection (CBP), US. Department of Homeland Security; and the US. Department of State (DOS).

Did she need "Secret" clearance just to access a building?

ETA: Seems to have been employed fairly regularly:
She worked for the U.S. Mint from 2000 to 2104 where she was required to have security clearance. She worked as an IBM digital analyst, for Homeland Security as a senior web production manager, for the Department of Justice as a senior production webmaster, the Department of State in the same job, and previously at a number of public and private companies as a web project manager and web professional services engineer.

Swetnick has degrees from Montgomery College, the University of Maryland in astrophysics and computer science. She graduated from Gaithersburg High School.

Clearly you have no idea how outraged you should be. Get with the program!

I'm not a women, so I'm in no position to answer.

So it's weekly parties where bad things keep happening to whatever group you are part of. Drugs are always present. Sexual assaults are happening. The punch is doped.

Do you keep going to the parties each week? Do you talk about what's going on amongst yourselves? Do you report anything to a parent or teacher?

No, he didn't.
The FBI investigated and told the Senate what they found. This is nothing like a security clearance investigation. As long as he is not suspected of a crime, there is no reason for the FBI to recommend him not becoming a Judge.
The fact that he is so dramatically in debt, had a drinking and gambling problem would most certainly disqualify him from a job with significant security concerns.

I don't believe the statements have much bearing, though.

If they found info that indicated who was telling the truth, yes, I think they would let the Senate know, at least.
