Cont: The Trump Presidency IX: Nein, Nein!

Your post didn't establish what time periods we we're comparing. I was using immediately before the signing, not before tariffs were implemented in the first place.

Oh, I understood what you were talking about. It's just that I also understand that's the stupidest ******* thing anyone could possibly say about the situation.

Trump imposed tariffs on Korean steel to raise the price, then negotiated with Korea to remove those same tariffs in exchange for virtually nothing, and you turn around and go, "Woo-Hoo! Cheap Steel!"

But how can the U.N. be laughing at him?

After all, we're constantly told by Trump and his toadies that "America is respected again".

It must be Obama's fault somehow. Or Hillary's.

Yeah, note for all those conservatives who used to say that Obama was a laughingstock to the world: this is what a laughingstock actually sounds like.

Do under bridge decks, forest preserves and Lower Wacker Drive count?

Yes. The year I worked on the census, I was part of an unusual search for people that began about miidnght and lasted through dawn. It include known homeless emcmpments, the homeless shelters, etc. One of the fun parts was a local small park known locally as "Needle Park". Figuring out why it has that nickname is left as an exercise for the reader.

Okay, this is embarrassing. Trump's two biggest humiliations have come from foreigners, the baby blimp in London and the UN today. We cannot allow this; we cannot allow overseas competition to out humiliate our president. Canada, hold our beer; we've got work to do.

It's NUKE time, biatches!

Trump is now claiming that he meant for the UN audience to laugh.

Sure you did. That's why, immediately after they laughed, you said "I didn't expect that reaction".

What a maroon.

Sadly, I think his narcissism kicked in and retrofitted the situation in his memory the instant he almost realized they were laughing at him. I observe that he started to chuckle with them and suddenly decided he told a joke on purpose so that, in his crazy mind, the world was laughing with him.

This is more public evidence that Trump is clinically insane.

Laughing at Trump at the UN.

It's a rare day when I read CNN and see a headline that just makes me happy.

DJT tweets:

The Democrats are playing a high level CON GAME in their vicious effort to destroy a fine person. It is called the politics of destruction. Behind the scene the Dems are laughing. Pray for Brett Kavanaugh and his family!

What's really bad, from his reaction, I'm not sure Trump knew why they were laughing at him.
What you have to remember is that Trump believes his own BS. He genuinely believes that he's the best, most successful President ever, and can't understand why anyone would think otherwise.

Probably off topic, but whatever:

Had a talk with my dad today. He was born in 1939, and still has childhood memories of german occupation troops harassing him in the tiny village he was born in.
His father treated him like crap, so when he was 14 he ran away from home and became a merchant sailor. Then as soon as he turned 18, he joined the Norwegian navy. He was on patrol in the Atlantic during the Cuban missile crisis, thinking that that world was surely going to end, and that he would never make it home. After that he and my mom raised me and my sister in the height of the cold war. This guy is tough as nails, and literally did not take one single sick day in 50+ years of hard manual labor. An old-school conservative military man.

Today he told me, that in his 79 years on the planet, he has never been as pissed off and scared as he is now, watching a substantial part of the american people electing and supporting an utter buffoon like Trump.

This is a man who for most of his life saw the US as that "shining beacon on the hill" you like to present yourself as. As a kid, I would get bombarded with stories of the many times he as a sailor had visited "the promised land in the west".

But now he's done. With what is currently going on, he fears for the future of his grandchildren, and he sees the US as one big failed joke.

Good times. At least we'll always have the video of the UN laughing in Dump's face. An absolute classic.

That's sad. Tell your dad that temporary insanity is just that; temporary. It's a pity, however, that for about 35% of the US population, it may be permanent brain damage.
But I do fear that watching Trump speak on any regular basis may be doing permanent damage to children under 18 whose brains are still developing.

If you place a drinking glass against the wall in your room, press your ear against it, and be vewy vewy quiet....

... you can hear Trump stomping his feet and screaming at his aides to: "Never ever schedule me to speak at another UN gathering ever again dammit!"

I think Thaiboxerken may be right that Trump has by now convinced himself that he really did mean for them all to laugh. For him, it's the only plausible explanation for their laughter.

This is good. I figured he'd do a Bolton on them.... the whole world at once and was readying his tweet confirming that he had proof that we've always been at war with Eastasia everyone.

I have to say that AJ has the only coverage over here that doesn't even mention it. They had eleven articles on Bolt getting into a pissing contest with Iran but nothing on Trump's fiasco.

Today he's scheduled for a solo news conference. Not sure if it's unprecedented for this admin or just rare. I for one can not wait!
