US Census counts non-citizens? Huh.

The census counts everybody. As to whether they apportion the number of congressional districts non voters or citizens I'm not clear about. I'm pretty sure they are included.

I do know that a person of color is equal to 3/5ths that of a Caucasian. And of course they were counted even though they weren't allowed to vote.

Non citizens count for apportionment.

The book is thoroughly damning. What comes across in gross detail is not just that Trump is stupid, which we all knew, obviously. He's impervious to education. There are several attempts by Wall Street Bankers and Harvard Educated economists to simply explain the basic concepts of trade deficits. Trump simply refuses to understand. He listens, gets told in simple words why he's wrong, nods his head and then starts over like no one said anything. What comes across is that he's stupid and wants to stay stupid.
Haven't read Woodward's book, but this matches what I've read in Wolfe's Fire and Fury. Which was so damning I don't need another damning book to understand how hopelessly unqualified and unfit for office the orange buffoon is.

I put far more confidence in Woodward's book than Wolfe's if only due to the reputations of the authors. That said, that doesn't mean Wolfe didn't have some real points.

I was watching a call in show last night that had Bob Woodward on. Some Trump supporter called in and praised him for his "service" and for getting shot. Woodward told her "You're getting me confused with Bob WoodRUFF". I had to laugh. Another 'informed' Trump fan.

Woodward is just a Democratic operative that disguised himself as a Republican his entire life........

I'm pretty sure every country's census does this. Not all resident aliens are living in the country illegally. Foreign students and green card holders immediately come to mind.

Trump's great for business:
CHICAGO — Cedar Electronics has been selling CB radios to American truckers since the 1960s, helping connect the workers who keep the U.S. economy rolling. But these days Cedar’s business isn’t exactly trucking along.

The Chicago-headquartered company is racing around Asia looking for other countries to host its manufacturing, after the radios Cedar makes in China and brings to the United States were hit with one of the Trump administration’s 25 percent tariffs this summer, making them more expensive to import.

I'm confused as to why I would need a book to know that Dolt 45 is wildly out of his depth in the presidency - I could have told you that back when he was peddling his racist conspiracy garbage about Obama back in 2011, or when he became a joke of a real-estate developer back in the 1990s.

I have never been as dumbfounded, shocked, and horrified as when the near-final results came in on Election Night. I actually had to go for a walk in below-freezing weather to wrap my head around it. I seriously thought something epic and terrifying would be happening a day or two after inauguration. (Crowd estimates don't count...)

Trump tweets

"Going to New York. Will be with Prime Minister Abe of Japan tonight, talking Military and Trade. We have done much to help Japan, would like to see more of a reciprocal relationship. It will all work out!"

"Prime Minster
@AbeShinzo
is coming up to Trump Tower for dinner but, most importantly, he just had a great landslide victory in Japan. I will congratulate him on behalf of the American people!"

Why shouldn't they?

I don't know. I'm just wondering. What is the purpose of a sensus in the US, then? Can visitors and tourists participate? Or do you need an actual address?

I didn't say anything about legality.

If it's anything like the UK then it's people living here, not just visiting.
Since it's used for planning then it needs to know more than just the locals.

In the UK (and I'd imagine in the US) the is no single 'purpose' for the Census as such - it gets used for all sorts of things. The more information you have, the better, so there should be very limited reasons for excluding people, and increasing efforts to include people - as many as possible. As long as you have solid recording methodology, you can easily exclude groupings from datasets for analytical purposes rather than removing them at source.

I am immediately cynical about any move to narrow the data collection from a general census unless there are very clear reasons behind it.

in the US, the Census in demanded by the Constitution - by hand no less. This makes it supremely inaccurate and prone to local deviations. But it would take a constitutional revision to make it more accurate.
In particular, the Census forms the basis for redistricting: an area with more inhabitants, citizen or just inhabitant, gets more representatives. Hence the understandable incentive for Republicans to under-count areas with lots of migrants (legal or otherwise).

It was obvious in the 90s. And it was easy to see through the sloppy paint job they tried to put on him with The Apprentice.

I didn't say anything about legality.

Ultimately, its purpose is because the Constitution says so. Whatever change you could imagine that would render a census moot would not alter it as a constitutional requirement.
