They outsourced some engineering (not commercial) development to Columbia Tech. CT was not able to rectify problems related to the large heat differentials involved using molten silver. So currently BLP is doing the engineering in house and using gallium instead of silver.

enough to be outsourced to Columbia Tech, Boston MA.

so...as usual they make big claims when even you admit they don't have clue what they are doing?
I hope they aren't paying you (allegedly) for such sterling PR 'help'.
Remember your task is to make readers think their is a remote possibilty that after 30 years of continual failure that Mills ISN'T a scam but a lone radical genius taking on the evil power mongers of America....ololololoo

Are you alleging as fact that the flask in the video was fabricated using Pyrex 7740? I, on the other hand, am alleging you used your Google Fu to find a high-temperature Pyrex product to continue your spin-doctoring and apologetics without any actual knowledge of facts regarding the flask's construction.
The SunCell is progressing quite well since its inception in 2014, a testament to Dr. Mills and the staff at BLP.
Point me to the source where 'they' stated all the engineering problems had been solved. Or are you not implying the word "all"? Yet, you are implying it.
The SunCell light (power) source has overcome key engineering challenges in prototype development.

We are making great progress. I just filed patens on a new MDH thermodynamic cycle that is amazing. Engineering program is progressing well.
Invention cycle went through another turn. The new design is awesome. Worth the short delay. New patents filed. Better product, easier to manufacture, install, and service, shortened field trial phase, and likely more revenue in the long run.
Advanced SunCell® design completed and patent applications are filed.
@jhrowell, note the dates in this link, especially in regards to your Sept 2017 quotes.

Its best attribute is its thermal shock resistance. It is intended for heat applications.

PYREX Code 7740 glass is designed for use in all laboratory glassware requiring very high resistance to strong acids, alkalis and products intended for use in heat applications such as autoclaves, hot plates and open flame.
Pyrex 7740 has a soften temperature point around 820C not 550C. It has a strain point of 510C however so prolonged exposure to such temperatures is not good of course.

So looking at the notes, Jan 13, 2017 is a big day because that’s the day the first geodesic Dense Receiver Array will be completed (gDRA). The gDRA is the photovoltaic dome that wraps around the black body light source.
Once that’s done, we could see a self-sustaining prototype generator produce power for the first time not too long after that. So perhaps a fully working prototype will be wheeled out for a public demo sometime near the end of January or in February.
Pilot plants projected for mid- to late 2009
Time will tell.
What I wonder is, when Mills' SunCell is proven technology in the mainstream, will skeptics here continue to bemoan the fact that Dr. Mills didn't get there sooner as he anticipated with previous iterations of hydrino technology? Or will they instead realize that in all those years, despite lack of predicted commercialization, he was nonetheless successful at increasing the power density of the hydrino reaction from year to year, from one technique to another, and acquiring the experience to finally hit on a method to achieve massive reaction kinetics and power density, in an environment known as the SunCell? Time will tell.
