For anyone who didn't follow the link, it is a description of Trump's genitals, according to Stormy Daniels. Everything you wanted to know. Or didn't want to know. Or whatever.

The description: small (but not freakishly small), shaped like a toadstool (like the mushroom thingies from Mariocart).

You know, if anything is going to sink Trump's political fortunes this will be it.

Mueller investigation and russian collusion? Republicans in congress won't impeach. Huge spike in the debt, children locked in cages, and a trade war threatening the economy? Trump's supporters will stand by him because he gives them the bigotry they truly desire.

But if people have an idea that Trump is poorly endowed? To his supporters he goes from the "great success and savior" to "that guy who's less of a man".

Yeah that's just sensationalist nonsense. It's like the stuff about Trump's small hands or orange skin. There's actual things to focus on.

Oh, I agree... it is sensationalist nonsense. And in a rational world it wouldn't matter.

But we currently see a president lock children in cages. We have a president who called neo-nazi's "Fine people". We see a president who's associated with several people who have been convicted of serious crimes. We see a president start a trade war. Yet his approval rating still hover around 40%. His approval ratings should actually be closer to 0%. None of the scandals seem to bother his hardcore supporters, who seem to be low-information bigoted dullards. So maybe some sensationalist "he's tiny" nonsense might actually cause a bit more of a loss among the 40%.

My biggest criticism of Woodward is that he falls into the same trap most commentators fell before the 2016 elections: in a misguided effort to be "fair and balanced" they make Trump look better than he is and his adversaries worse than they are.
While it's true that Trump and his adoring public will screech about "fake news," Woodward's restraint ultimately (IMO) wins the trust of others who know he's not making things look worse than they are - that if anything he's holding back. Does that enable Trump's shenanigans? It probably does, a little bit, but it also sends a message to the people he relied on for a deep and highly credible look at an an administration like no other - he is not going for cheap sensationalism. Gradually there will be fewer people willing to speak up to defend "the other side" until it's just Trump and a few stalwarts like Sarah Sanders and "Crazy Eyes" Giuliani. Bit by bit Trump has alienated just about everyone else. Unknown if Woodward will ever tip "the base" but his coverage of Trump is a work in progress and a reputation for fairness is is vital, so he *will* make it a point to offer Trump & surrogates every chance to comment. Trump of course lies about it, saying Woodward never called him. Which is BS and I think most people know it.

Hell, being a Russian stooge doesn't even matter anymore.

Maybe if he became a Democrat...

I can't even begin to imagine anyone but the most blindly loyal Trump supporter reading Fear and thinking it made Trump look at all good. I always knew he wasn't very bright but he is literally and without hyperbole, too stupid to be president. The descriptions of his advisors trying to explain what a trade deficit is are beyond cringe-worthy.

Please this was clear before the election and people wanted a president who suggested renegotiating the national debt. That is exactly what the republican party wanted.

They elected Dunning Kruger. They want Dunning Kruger.

I'm not sure the majority of Americans understand why this would be a problem.

On the other hand, if Trump raised a 25% tariff on all imports and all exports,
roughly a trillion dollars in new taxes, that would pay for all the tax cuts and
spending bringing the deficit down bellow the economic growth rate.

Tariffs bad, but sovereign default is worse... way, way worse.

I imagine Pence does not have the allies to accomplish a 25th Amendment coup.
He's either really the Trump worshiping groupie he appears to be, or he's keeping
as low a profile as he can, biding his time.

He has a calendar on his desk with the number 2316, he'll tear it off tomorrow
and the number 2315 will be revealed. When it reaches 0, then he'll act.

Similarly, they seem truly convinced that the Obama presidency really was an
unmitigated disaster, start to finish. It's not just their public political persona,
they seem to say this even in the privacy of their own councils.

At best I classify Trump as Obama's Super Symmetric Partner.

Whatever properties Obama had in office, Trump will have the opposite, for
example: No Drama Obama, All Drama Trump.

Normally we use the letter S to distinguish partners, for example: Lepton, sLepton.

So with Trump we get sTrump.

Oh, how timely!

I say we just slap a 10000% tariff on everything and just live in isolated nations, see what happens.

The US actually tried that back in 1806 when Jefferson, afraid of the US being dragged into the Napoleonic Wars (which happened in 1812 anyway) put a total embargo on US trade with Europe. The US economy collapsed. Jefferson was a brilliant man, but, like most brilliant men, he was capable of making a really stupid decision. The Embargo was one of them.

Google Translate:

I swear to God this sacred oath that I will unconditionally obey the leader of the American Empire and people, Donald Trump, Commander-in-Chief of the Wehrmacht, and be ready as a brave soldier to use my life at all times for this oath.”

Now if only Claus Von Stauffenberg shows up....

The problem is that taxes on products probably impact those with lower incomes (who have to spend their money on necessities that get taxed) more than those with higher incomes (who probably spend more of their money on stocks and other investment vehicles).

So, your 'tariff to tackle the debt' becomes a regressive tax.
