"This is not simply an election about right versus left, this is an election about right versus wrong."
-- DNC Chairman Tom Perez (Sept 9, 2018)

Yep, wholeheartedly agree.
Glad you agree.

Uh...you DO know that the vast majority of the world, and not just the USA, think Trump is wrong? In just about any definition of that word you like?

Not a good example as the only thing the Southern Democrats of the pre-Civil Rights era have in common with the Democrats of today is the name.

I have to laugh when Trump goes on about Lincoln being a Republican as if the party of 1860 has much in common with the party of today.

http://www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/research/published/reversal2.pdf

The name is what matters. It is the same party. A party that changed its policies one year can change them back a few years later.

If I actually felts that strongly negative about my political party's heritage, I would have changed the name.

I see. The NAME is what matters. Not the policies...the name. And you wrote that with a straight face?

There is a reason why the vast majority of A-Americans vote Democrat and not Republican. Can you hazard a guess as to why that may be?

Does anyone really think that the GOP in the last 60 years has ANYTHING remotely in common with what was the party of Lincoln or even the party of Teddy Roosevelt or even Eisenhower? Maybe a little with the party of Ike....but not much.

No idea. I'm neither.

I like him.

I hate his stupid Fahrenheit 9/11 crap that drew in all the Truthers...

Well, get ready. He's about to do it again.

Fahrenheit 11/9 The Movie by Michael Moore

Donald J. Trump did not just fall from the sky. His rise to the presidency
was not an aberration and should not have come as a shock. It was the
logical end result of a long, downward spiral in America that culminated
in one of our most loathsome citizens conquering our most powerful office.
One of our most deceptive minds, commanding the bully pulpit. One of
our most fraudulent hucksters, armed with the powers of the presidency
to protect him.

That's quite the assumption since no one has either proved or disproved that Warren has NA ancestry.

"I still have a picture on my mantel and it is a picture my mother had before that - a picture of my grandfather. And my Aunt Bee has walked by that picture at least a 1,000 times and remarked that he - her father, my Papaw -- had high cheek bones like all of the Indians do."
-- Elizabeth Warren (May 3, 2012)

Definitive proof from an impeccable source, Aunt Bee.

I think you are confusing Fahrenheit 9/11 with Loose Change. Moore's documentary is about GW's move to use 911 for an excuse to invade Iraq. Moore isn't a Truther. And the 911 movie includes criticism of Bush letting bin Laden go.

I fear this is about as far off topic as we can go in this thread.

As if she needs to prove it.

Why doesnt Trump prove he didnt pay for hookers in Russia or Stormy Daniels or Karen McDougal?

This is just another form of birtherism for the Republicans.

I really hope I get to hear Trump making this argument against Warren in the 2020 debates. I really, really do.

As if nearly everyone in the world doesn't go by stories from their old family members on where they come from. No wonder Trump is so dear those who make so abhorrent a choice in what they ridicule.

He's entertaining. He's also extremely dishonest.

Yeah, I had a Michael Moore fanboy phase before realising just how manipulative he was. Manufacturing Dissent really drove it home for me, but I had picked up on it before then, of course.

EDIT:
FWIW, Hitchens take on Fahrenheit 9/11

hyperbolic and disingenuous
At the risk of derailing the thread, I would be happy to provide specific examples, too.

If Michael Moore told me the sky was blue, I'd feel the need to go outside to check.

That's a totally unnecessary comment and rather foolish, wouldn't you say? Post Hoc Well Poisoning? Michael told you the sky was grey and he was right. Which part concerns you? That Trump won the nomination? That Trump was elected?

You wanna go outside and check while we wait?

Families pass down family information. Some is true, some isn't. Some is partially true.
I only heard about my NA ancestor from stories passed down. I had no other evidence of it until I researched it on Ancestry.com. I, unlike the older generations of my family, had the advantage of the internet. The story was true.

Regardless of whether Warren has NA ancestry or not, Trump's use of "Pocahontas" when referring to her is childish, bullying behavior more in line with what a 10 year old would do. So "presidential".

How is he dishonest?

Let me provide a link to a page about Bowling For Columbine. This is not exhaustive by any means, either in terms of cataloguing all the ways in which that film is dishonest nor in terms of it being the only dishonest product from Moore, it is instead an example of his typical MO. Another fun thing to try is to read his books, read the references and sources at the end, and see if they actually say what he claims they do. And so on. Do any fact checking, and you'll find exactly this kind of dishonesty over and over again.

Moore is entertaining. He's also extremely dishonest.

Which part concerns you?

That Michael Moore is a dishonest demagogue.

It doesn't matter what political opinions any of us all, all of us should strive to have our opinions formed from facts, and none of us should trust sources that deliberately misrepresent and omit salient facts in order to push their own ideology - regardless of whether or not we agree with that ideology. In fact, I believe that we should be even more scrupulous in examining the claims of those who echo our own views, and in condemning those who use dishonest means to try to push views that we agree with.

The fact that I am very anti-gun doesn't mean that I think that Bowling For Columbine is a good documentary. It doesn't mean that I think it's truthful. It doesn't mean I shouldn't condemn the deliberate dishonesty of the person who made it.

It's being reported that the Trump administration is set today to threaten to impose sanctions against judges from the International Criminal Court, as well as prosecuting them in the US justice system, if they proceed with an investigation into alleged war crimes carried out by Americans in Afghanistan. They're also closing the PLO offices in Washington, because Palestine have attempted to have an investigation started into Israeli actions, and seeking new agreements with other nations to prevent Americans being surrendered to the court.
