Trump Tweets

"The Woodward book is a scam. I don’t talk the way I am quoted. If I did I would not have been elected President. These quotes were made up. The author uses every trick in the book to demean and belittle. I wish the people could see the real facts - and our country is doing GREAT!"

Am I missing something? I thought the book didn't come out until next week?
How can Trump know what is all in it, other than the few excerpts that were released?

I've already seen a few tweets about "flannel shirt guy" -- the guy with the (negatively) expressive face standing right behind Trump during that speech. I guess I missed most of the better reactions. No doubt Jeannie Moos will have a montage prepared for us later on today.

Apparently he and some other "supporters" not looking sufficiently giddy were replaced before the end of the rally.

ETA - found a link to a Tweet that shows it. I wish I'd seen the whole thing!

Made me chuckle!

He is defending in the manner he thinks is best. As commander in chief, he is the only one who can review his own decision making on that.

If he *participated* in what he is sworn to protect against, then that certainly would not be his prerogative.

Obama: "Every one of us as citizens of the U.S. need to determine just who it is that we are ... As a fellow citizen, not as an ex-president, but as a citizen, I'm here to deliver simple message and that is that you need to vote because our democracy depends on it." (via ABC)

Barack Obama: "It did not start with Donald Trump. He is a symptom, not the cause. He's just capitalizing on resentments that politicians have been fanning for years, a fear and anger that’s rooted in our past but also borne of the tremendous upheavals that have taken place."

Barack Obama: "Let’s just remember when this recovery started ... When you hear about this economic miracle that's been going on ... suddenly Republicans are saying, 'It's a miracle!', I kind of have to remind them that those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015, 2016."

Obama: "When there's a vacuum in our democracy, when we don't vote, when we take our basic rights and freedoms for granted, when we turn away and stop paying attention and stop engaging and stop believing ... the politics of fear and resentment and retrenchment takes hold."

Barack Obama: "The biggest threat to our democracy is indifference. The biggest threat to our democracy is cynicism."

Again, this is the correct option to take, assuming the senate will actually conduct a reasonable hearing and remove him permanently if he is so impaired (which he is, as has been plain from the start).

Unfortunately, since the Senate GOP has failed the country repeatedly in the recent past, they will do no such thing.

I don't know if the GOP in Congress will ever have the guts to do that, though.
But I agree the "Captain Queeg" option might be the only way to avoid catastrophe.

This is funny because this tweet isn't the way Trump talks or tweets. It has complete sentences, nouns and verbs, subjects and objects. No spelling or grammatical errors. Clearly written or edited by someone else.

Now night be a good time to re-watch Seven Days in May.

Will the admirals be with us?

Seriously I think invoking the 25th is a lot more like what happened to Captain Queeg in "The Caine Mutiny" (Trump would not be kicked out of office, just relieved of duties) but it ironic that John Frankenheimer directed both "Seven Days In May" and "THe Manchurian Candidate",another film often mentioned in connection with Trump.

I have not read the book..it does not come out until next week. (though I have it preordered for my Kindle) but I would not be surprised if Woodward has to do a bit of editing and cleaning up Trump's prose to make it comprehensible.

Seriously. He not only talks like a crazy stupid person but he usually can't clean it up in text...something a smart person would be used to doing.

I recently watched the unaired final episodes of "Powerless", a sitcom set in the DC Comics universe. In the final episode, aliens invaded Earth and President Luthor Tweeted "WE WILL BUILD A SPACE WALL!! AND THE ALIENS WILL PAY FOR IT!!" One character commented that he couldn't believe they had elected a President who Tweeted in all caps.
At the end of the episode, after it was revealed that President Luthor had engineered the invasion to destroy the Earth, a news broadcast announced that the GOP-controlled Congress had decided not to impeach him.

Great episode - but not as good as "No Consequence Day" or "Emily Dates a Henchman".

In the face of Trump's basically approving violence against jounrliast in Montana from now On I will consider Trump defenders to be basically fascists who want a authoritarian dictatorhip unless they prove differently.

I didn't see that, but I do remember when Luthor became president in other formats, and sold off his shares of Lexcorp to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.

Dolt 45 is still invested in his crappy resorts.

Just saying.

I always loved that in the President Luthor storyline ,Superman was unwilling to do the dirty work necessary to force Luthor out of office. It was Batman who was willing to hack into Luthor's computers and do what needed to be done.

Bummer for them...
