Cont: The Trump Presidency IX: Nein, Nein!

The article looks to be written by someone deeply concerned with 'morality' so Pence certainly makes the list. Many have opined that Pence believes this job is his destiny to being President - and bringing America back to a Christian foundation. People have also pointed out the use of the word 'lodestar' as one Pence uses.

Though it would seem treasonous for the man who would assume the office to write of actively undermining the current president's agenda- no matter his intentions.

I think I'd rather have some bubble wrap in the china shop for Trump than Pence and his bible prophesy study group running things "Gods way". ugh.

I don't think this anon writer can stay hidden very long.

Yeah, I'm kind of feeling like that, too. I think we're dealing with a virtual President Pence right now no matter what, though.

I could almost buy that the purpose of the guy writing the op ed was to send Trump over the edge so that even the craven Republicans in congress would have to do something...
Inducing an actual stroke would maybe make the 25th more palatable.

Or is it just, today's frisson of last-strawism.

Nothing is unspinnable. No matter how badly you have been caught out, deny, distract and obfuscate and the true believers will defend you. And one of the best attacks seems to be accusing your critics of your own missdeed. Here, “putting ego ahead of the will of the American people.”
Spinning used to mean changing the angle of the story, like "unemployment may be up but standard of living numbers have gone up," followed by a dump of positive statistics. Under the current administration, spinning means flat-out lying about everything. The first takes skill and knowledge. The second requires only a complete lack of ethical standards.

If we are going Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, maybe Megan McCain speech at the father funeral is a Mark Antony at Caesar's funeral equivalent.

Oh- very, very good!

[added on edit] A second thought- I can see why she, unlike Antony, couldn't bring herself even sarcastically to use the term "honourable man."

I wonder if Russian hackers are busy interfering with White House computers in order to leave false traces of authorship in various places.

ETA: Oh man that laptop must be radioactive. Not enough bleach in the world. In fact maybe it was written by hand. Or with letters cut out of magazines ...

If it was Pence, and Trump gets shut out, and Pence gets in, he would have to resign immediately. The NYT knows who it is and would have that over him during his reign. So, who's next in line? Isn't it Paul Ryan? I'd be OK with that, since he was an actual candidate for President.

What do you mean "if Trump gets shut out"?

And why would Pence have to resign?

Best reply I've seen so far: Did you think Twitter was Google?

It should be getting clearer to Trumpettes:

-That the 'deep state' is really all public servants of conscience. Including, in some instances at least, Trump's own hand-picked staff.

- That the functioning of the Administration thus far, such as it is, is in part *in spite of* Trump. Were he to have been given full rein, calamitous outcomes worse than those already suffered might have ensued.

Is America ready to redress in the Presidency what seem to be the least demanding job requirements imaginable? In just about any job one might consider, how long would an incompetent last when all other employees have to cover for him?

As currently constituted and manifested, the US Presidency is surplus to requirements. A bumbling ignoramus who only charges about like the proverbial bull can be ignored while the adults run the show.

I was going Nero, actually, but no matter.

That would make Trump Brutus, but OK. Things didn't go well for him.

Brutus,in Shakespeare's play, was the only one of Caesar's killers who did so because he really felt Caesar was a clear and present danger to the Roman Republic. The other struck out of fear, greed, and a thirst for power.

"The Failing New York Times!"

"TREASON?"

"Does the so-called “Senior Administration Official” really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source? If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!"

I'm 100 percent certain the NYT would never reveal this without permission.

I'm OK with that. However, even just a minute ago The PDJT is threatening legal action. Unfortunately, he's in a position where he might be able to do something about it.
