The worst Big Bad was Adam in the 4th season.
And although it had some excellent individual episodes ("Hush", The awakening of Faith episodes, and the final Dream episode) I think the whole Intiative story line was a major misfire. I don't know if a X FIles type plot was ever a good fit for BTVS, but the Initiative was badly handled.
I suspect that Whedon's attentions were divided, with getting the first Season of Angel off the ground having a priority, and that damaged the show in the 4th season.

I always thought the Initiative would have been more interesting if they'd cut out the Riley character and had Xander join the army and get recruited into it. They should have cut out Adam too and made Professor Walsh the Big Bad for that series.

Anyway, back to Trump...:D

Yeah, it wasn't well handled, but the idea wasn't bad. I think originally the female professor who led the initiative was supposed to be the big bad but that was changed. Adam just didn't get any development.

'Course, we shouldn't forget Angelus as a baddie.

Riley was boring. It would have been a far more interesting storyline if it was Xander whose loyalties were torn between Walsh and the Scoobies.

No sir, you don't understand: I liked Riley! Stop contradicting me! ;)

I don't know. I thought he was a welcome change to the superhuman Angel. Plus, Angel was more interesting with his own show.

I'm a madam, and we'll just have to agree to disagree about the dull Riley.

Agree about Angel though, he was way more interesting in his own show than he ever was on Buffy.

One quarrel I have with Season 4 is that the people writing it have no idea of how the military operate in the real world. Whedon himself admits he got flooeded with emails and posts on "The Bronze" from Buffy fans in the military about the way the military was portrayed was pretty clueless.
I note that Whedon was lot more sophisticated about that in his later shows and movies.

Walsh was the 'Not Really the Big Bad' like Cakistos, Dracula, Spike (a couple of times) or the Nerd Trio. Whedon loves the bait-and-switch.

To be fair, the military get portrayed pretty stupidly in a LOT of movies and TV series.

It took a little floundering in the first season, but Angle as a classic Hard Boiled/Fiom Noir Private Eye who happened to deal with the supernatural was a great idea, Sort of a Philip Marlowe who is a vampire.

It was a great idea, even the first season didn't flounder too much. I always like the dynamic that existed between Angel, Doyle and Cordelia. Its a pity they had to write Doyle out because the actor was a heroin addict.

Wesley got a truckload of development during the series. From a complete tool to the equivalent of Batman in three years.

"“Anonymous Sources are really starting to BURN the media.” @FoxNews The fact is that many anonymous sources don’t even exist. They are fiction made up by the Fake News reporters. Look at the lie that Fake CNN is now in. They got caught red handed! Enemy of the People!"

There is so much wrong in each of those paragraphs* that it's hard to know where to start. But as he's the master of projection, it's almost certain that he knows that there's evidence that his campaign spied on Clinton's.

*but as it's possible to parse them, and they don't end in an exclamation mark, I do wonder if someone else actually wrote them - as an aside, I know that politicians have speechwriters, but can you imagine how soul-destroying it would be being Trump's tweetwriter.

Did Trump just ask his base a trick question?

Would it be OK if Trump did it next?

YES!!! Ah .... wait .... were we supposed to say no?

The man who attributes everything to 'people are saying', complains about anonymous sources.

The plan was always to kill Doyle. Similarly, Wedon had wanted to include Eric Balfour, Jesse, in the credits of Episode 1 of Buffy to throw the audience off balance. Glenn Quinn's addiction issues reduced his role and expedited the exit.

ETA: He talks about this is either the director's commentary for "Welcome to Hellmouth" or "Parting Gifts".
