Trump tweets

"Our relationship with Mexico is getting closer by the hour. Some really good people within both the new and old government, and all working closely together....A big Trade Agreement with Mexico could be happening soon!"

Maybe he heard about the tunnel to the abandoned KFC. Nothing brings you closer like a border tunnel.

The flag mishap has to be intentional, surely? Something he desperately does to distract attention from the crisis he's in?

With McCain dying we now wait to see just how Trump will embarrass the nation.

Trump's condolence tweet was the standard "condolences" and "hearts and prayers". Took no thought at all.

Compare and contrast (I hope the link is non-signed-in visible):
Barak Obama said:
John McCain and I were members of different generations, came from completely different backgrounds, and competed at the highest level of politics. But we shared, for all our differences, a fidelity to something higher – the ideals for which generations of Americans and immigrants alike have fought, marched, and sacrificed. We saw our political battles, even, as a privilege, something noble, an opportunity to serve as stewards of those high ideals at home, and to advance them around the world. We saw this country as a place where anything is possible – and citizenship as our patriotic obligation to ensure it forever remains that way.

Few of us have been tested the way John once was, or required to show the kind of courage that he did. But all of us can aspire to the courage to put the greater good above our own. At John’s best, he showed us what that means. And for that, we are all in his debt. Michelle and I send our most heartfelt condolences to Cindy and their family.

Sadly, this is Trump on his best behavior. I won't be surprised if Trump throws some shade on McCain's dead body soon.

You're right. Turns out that lying to them is a much more effective strategy than telling them the harsh truth.

There is a third option. Democrats and other assorted liberals need to learn how to frame their POVs more effectively.

You don't say you are going to put the coal companies out of business. That's bad framing right there. You talk about the dying coal industry and tell the miners and other people dependent on those company jobs what you plan to do to transition them into other occupations.

It most likely wasn't written by him as well. He's going to stick his foot in his mouth when asked about it is my bet.

It's kind of amazing what people will do to harm this president. John McCain should've keeled over years ago, yet he chose to die this week (of all weeks).

Which is pretty much what they did.

It was the Republicans who framed the Democrats as wanting to put the coal mines out of business.

All the Dems had to do was wait. Coal mines were going out of business without any help from them, and had been for the last couple of decades.

The owners have known this the whole time and have been quietly moving their personal investments elsewhere.

That doesn't stop the Repugnicans from lying their asses off about the Dems, and in addition claiming they will bring back the lost coal jobs. Even though anyone with at least two brain cells left to rub together knows that ain't gonna happen. Those jobs aren't coming back.
