You do realize that in order to "lock her up", you need to 1) find some law that she has broken, 2) make sure that that law would result in jail time, 3) actually press charges and 4) have her convicted in a court of law.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Thursday he believes President Trump will name a new attorney general "sooner rather than later" in his first term.

Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, Graham said Trump is "entitled to an attorney general he has faith in."

"The idea of having a new attorney general in the first term of President Trump's administration, I think is very likely," said Graham.

No they think they can do what they want, and given the life most have led they aren't being stupid coming to that conclusion, it's based on empirical evidence.

I think it is clear that S and A likes the idea of Trump be able to send his opponents to prison without much in the way of trial.
In fact, I think S and A loves the idea of a Trump dictatorship, period.

I don't know how it works in the US, but in the UK if you have a public performance license then you have permission to play anything you want to. The rights organisations then work out (guesstimate) how many times any particular artists' songs have been played in public and assign royalties to the relevant copyright holder accordingly.

I imagine that the US system is very similar. I certainly can't imagine that you have to get permission from each individual artist that you want to play a song of. Can you imagine the hassle that a wedding DJ would have to go through? Especially when there's a request for a song they don't have the license to. Rather than just downloading it, as happens now, they'd have to download it and contact the band mid-gig. And think how much hassle it'd be for a band to have to individually grant each DJ/restaurant/pub/music venue/festival organiser/etc. the rights to use their music.

Seems untenable to me. So I'd imagine that the Trump rallies have a music license, and that with that license they can play Aerosmith if they want to, regardless of how Aerosmith feel about it. Aerosmith might be able to bring some kind of civil case to try to get them to stop, but I'm not even sure I could see that being successful.

I'm not sure how the royalty issues are dealt with, but it is a bit of PR problem when you start playing the music of an artist who bad mouths you for playing his music. It's one thing to play a various mixture of songs. But if you play a particular artist's song as part of your intro or right after you finish, you're doing more than genetically playing music. You are creating a theme.... it gives the audience the idea that the artist endorses you.

I just assumed it was another "Lindsay Graham is gay and thus akin to a woman" joke. Unless, of course, he simply wants Sessions to make up charges to have Clinton arrested - a great way to demonstrate that you are willing go grossly abuse power, and thus a call for open rebellion.

So it couldn't be that latter one cough.

I am dubious about the wisdom of land confiscation is S.A. (it just worked great in Zimbabwe) but Trump's tweet is a blatant appeal to bigotry. I wonder if Trump will not openly play the racism card in the mid terms.

I never doubted that he would - it's one of few issues that he has been loud and consistent on since years before his official campaign announcement. Even his hatred of China is contradicted by his apparent love of ZTE.

White House kills bipartisan bill to protect elections:

A bill that would have significantly bolstered the nation’s defenses against electoral interference has been held up in the Senate at the behest of the White House, which opposed the proposed legislation, according to congressional sources.

The Secure Elections Act, introduced by Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., in December 2017, had co-sponsorship from two of the Senate’s most prominent liberals, Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., as well as from conservative stalwart Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and consummate centrist Susan Collins, R-Me.

Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., was set to conduct a markup of the bill on Wednesday morning in the Senate Rules Committee, which he chairs. The bill had widespread support, including from some of the committee’s Republican members, and was expected to come to a full Senate vote in October. But then the chairman’s mark, as the critical step is known, was canceled, and no explanation was given.
