But it's not an absence of knowledge. We most definitely have knowledge of several individuals lying about the nature of a meeting of very questionable legality.

I can't see how Mueller could not know by now, and we all will soon enough... Patience, Grasshopper. But if you must cling tenaciously to that life preserver of fantasy until the facts subsume it into the depths, by all means do so. But the shock of revelation might be the harder to endure. For those blinder-limited, entrenched Trumpists, at any rate.

While I do think Mueller KNOWS far more than us, his job is do far more than that. He has to build cases which means accumulating as much evidence as is possible to press legal cases. This is much more difficult and challenging than lay people can fathom.

And he has to build a case that is so strong that even Republicans will have to admit that Trump broke laws. They will only do so if the overwhelming public is outraged, and they might not even admit it then.

Many of them are lawyers (and the ones that aren't think that way), and want to view Trump as a client they are defending. They'll use every strategy that defense lawyers use to try and obfuscate and deflect blame from an obviously guilty client. It isn't his guilt they care about.

They have long since abdicated from any claim to principles or integrity. They don't even bother to pretend any more

Not only that, but Digby of Salon.com points out that Republicans have weaponized investigations as a political weapon so many of them see the Russian investigations as only political weapons that the Dems are using. It's a case of "we abuse these procedures, so the Democrats must be abusing them as well." The leaders know, of course, that this isn't true but they will feed the false belief because it serves them well.

Especially since only selected tweets are mirrored here. Post all, or none. Unless a specific tweet adds to an ongoing topic of debate. But if yoz only have the latest tweet that irks you, and you post it without comment, you might as well leave it be.

You don't have to. But 1) this is the only place you'll find my opinion, and 2) the purpose of this board is in large part for members to share their opinions. Mine aren't any different than yours in that respect.

The best counter-argument offered so far is that for some members, Twitter isn't accessible. I'll accept that as a valid reason to keep posting them, though it probably wasn't the motivation to begin.

EXACTLY! Just look at this forum and the equivocating on the Trump Tower meeting. It's a joke for anyone to suggest at the bare minimum that Don Jr. didn't commit conspiracy and that he and Kushner didn't lie to Congress and there is likely more crimes than these associated with that meeting. Yet, there have been absurd rationalizations and attempts to lessen what even Steve Bannon described as treasonous.

Mueller can leave no doubt what happened. He cannot do a half ass job and say "that's good enough". If he comes back with nothing on Trump, so be it. But if he comes back and says Trump committed these crimes, he damn well better have proof that even the average Trump supporter will have trouble denying.
