Question: do you have evidence for the highlighted portion?

If you show me the text itself, I will show you in the text itself that it was a joke.

I ask that you provide the text, in order to avoid any confusion or mistake about what text we are referring to. If the text you show me does not provide evidence of a joke, then I will admit my error.

Question: do you have evidence for the highlighted portion? Has Trump said anywhere else that he intended that statement as a joke? His track record for statements at rallies would seem to indicate otherwise.

Because a presidential candidate said it on stage to thunderous applause so of course it's a joke. It isn't like it was said by a black woman on twitter.

(Sorry to pile on, but I doubt you'll get an honest answer to the question and the double standard was just too hard to ignore.)

EDIT: Ninja'd. You did get something of an honest answer right above.

"Yes, I'm angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House."

"“When was the last time an actor assassinated a president? It has been a while and maybe it is time."
-- Johnny Depp (January 23, 2017)

What I find amusing in a scary sort of way is that you think these statements by two actors, albeit in poor taste or even possibly illegal in Depp's case, are in any way comparable to a presidential candidate calling for Russia to hack into a former Secretary of State's computer.:jaw-dropp

They keep doing this.

I also find Swoop's reposting of tweets useful. Not only do they keep me informed of 45's latest rants, but they often help steer the overall discussion here. This is an unusual situation. Normally, I'd find the reposting annoying.

At the time, her illegal server had long since been decommissioned and wiped clean -- "like with a cloth or something."

Russian hackers allegedly made their first attempt to hack the emails of Hillary Clinton and her campaign staff on the same day Donald Trump publicly asked them to.

Documents released by Special Counsel Robert Mueller in connection with the indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers, claim the hackers targeted a domain used by Ms Clinton’s personal office “on or about July 27 2016”.

The indictment alleges the hackers also on that day, targeted 76 email accounts belonging to the Clinton campaign by means of so-called spear phishing – a technique used to try and access specific addresses.

The server wasn't illegal.
Perhaps, or perhaps not. Sketchy in any case.

But when Trump called for Russia to find the emails, it was a hollow invitation. They had been deleted. It would've required having the hardware to find them, if even that.
ETA: I suppose they could have found many of them on the recipients' servers.

"My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." -- Reagan, being genuinely funny.

Trump is not a computer expert, nor is he omniscient. He had no reason to personally know whether the emails were truly gone or not.

Even if the emails really were gone, never to be recovered in any way, the fact that he still wanted the servers hacked shows intent... he wanted a foreign power to interfere in America's politics and government.

Or there may have been backups made that were overlooked in the original deletions. Or some emails may have been cached or stored on an individual's computer.

On top of which, his megalomania combined with reality show persona results in a case of diarrhea mouth the likes of which has rarely been witnessed. Like a toddler, he's proud of taking a crap in public.

When did he say this? An Al Smith or during the Correspondents dinner perhaps?
